A fridge freezer can be right on paper and wrong by the time it reaches the kitchen. A 55cm-wide freestanding Bosch fits a gap that won't take a 60cm model; an American-style appliance asks you to think about the hallway as well as the space beside the cabinets. I'd settle those questions before falling for a Black Friday banner.
I've read the independent UK reviews and opened the shop pages behind these picks. On 3 November 2026, each led to the right model, showed the price in our comparison and said it was in stock. The cards show live prices with delivery. My shortlist starts with the kitchen and the way you use the appliance, then asks what reviewers found.
The kitchen makes the first cut
Freestanding is the flexible choice if the layout may change. Integrated hides behind a kitchen door, but the cabinet and hinges set the terms of a replacement. American-style gives you a much wider appliance and a delivery job to match. Of the models sold by at least two of our shops on 2 November 2026, our comparison held 106 freestanding, 83 integrated and 20 American-style fridge freezers. Those counts describe what we can compare, not how much will fit in your kitchen.
The split follows your shopping. A 70/30 gives most space to chilled food, a 60/40 puts 60% in the fridge and 40% in the freezer, and a 50/50 divides the space equally, as Beko explains. It doesn't tell you the outside dimensions. Frost free prevents freezer ice building up, while low frost reduces it but still leaves you with defrosting, according to Appliances Direct.
I'd put size and split ahead of finish. A narrow machine with a useful freezer may suit you better than a larger fridge with too little frozen storage. In a fitted kitchen, the hinges narrow the choice further. This poll is about your space.
A narrow 50/50 with a review behind it
The Bosch Series 2 KGN27N is the freestanding pick I'd start with when width is tight and the freezer needs a fair share. The white KGN27NWEAG, silver-look KGN27NLEAG and black KGN27NBEAG are each 182cm high and 55cm wide, according to shop listings. That width makes sense where a 60cm space isn't available. Bosch gives all three the same label figures: class E, 229 kWh a year, 171 litres in the fridge, 84 litres in the freezer and 41 dB(A) airborne noise. The colour choice doesn't change those figures.
Good Housekeeping UK names the white KGN27NWEAG its best 50/50 fridge freezer, with a lab score of 78/100. Its Institute logged temperatures over 24 hours: the fridge averaged 3.3°C, with the door shelf at 4.1°C, while the freezer averaged -18.7°C and earned full marks for consistency. That's stronger evidence than a feature list, though it is a test of the white model rather than a separate test of every finish.
Good Housekeeping likes the frost-free design and humidity-controlled drawers, but notes no shallow freezer drawer for ice cubes, holiday mode or temperature-rise alarm. In its door-open test, the top shelf recovered in 11 minutes and the bottom drawer in 51. I'd take that seriously if the freezer is opened often. This Bosch offers a narrow 50/50 with measured, steady temperatures.

When a 60/40 makes more sense
The Bosch Series 4 KGN362LDFG asks for a 60cm-wide space and stands 186cm high, according to shop listings. Bosch lists its 60/40 arrangement as a 218-litre fridge and 103-litre freezer, with class D, 199 kWh a year and 35 dB(A). Compared with the KGN27N, it offers more room on both sides of the divide while using less energy in the label test. That makes the wider gap a useful distinction, rather than merely a reason to buy a larger box.
Which? includes this model in its Black Friday fridge freezer selection. It says the models it chose scored reasonably well in its tests and that it only recommends appliances with average or better energy-efficiency scores. Its Best Buy verdicts remain for members, so I wouldn't turn this appearance in a deal guide into an unqualified award. Which? likes the vegetable drawer and finds the light a bit dazzling. It also lists adjustable humidity for the salad crisper, holiday and economy settings, Sabbath mode and reversible doors; the door-reversal service needs asking for when ordering.
I'd choose between these Bosches on space and food storage. The KGN27N's 55cm width solves a particular problem. The KGN362LDFG gives more capacity, a quieter label figure and lower annual energy use, with a more qualified endorsement from Which?.

Integrated means matching the kitchen, not just the split
An integrated replacement has to work with the cabinet opening and the kitchen door. Door-on-door, also called fixed, brackets the kitchen door to the appliance door so they share one set of hinges. With a sliding rail, the appliance door moves along the cabinet door and there are two sets of hinges, as Appliances Direct explains. I'd establish which fixing is there before treating two integrated models of similar height as interchangeable.
The dimensions are precise. Bosch's KIV87NSE0G example is 1772 x 541 x 548 mm with sliding hinges, yet needs an installation space 1775 mm high, 560 mm wide and 550 mm deep. Bosch also sells 177.2cm models with sliding or fixed hinges and 193.5cm tall ones. Height alone cannot confirm a fit. This ao.com video shows both hinges.
There's a space trade-off behind the neat cabinetry. Which? found that the largest integrated model it tested held ten shopping bags, while freestanding models reached 23. It says integrated appliances tend to cost more and hold less, and suggests freestanding if the kitchen layout might change. For a kitchen already built around the appliance, though, matching the niche and door fixing comes first.
Trusted Reviews names the Hotpoint HTC20T322UK its best integrated fridge freezer. Its review describes a 212-litre fridge, a 68-litre freezer, humidity controls on both drawers and good temperature control, but calls the freezer small and the E-rated machine a little expensive to run. It makes more sense for someone with little frozen food or another freezer. Two of our shops list it, but one showed it sold out on 3 November 2026. I can't put a useful live comparison beside that recommendation. No integrated model with a current independent UK review was in stock at two of our shops that day, so there is no integrated price block here.
An American-style fridge has to get through the door
The first question with an American-style fridge freezer is physical. Hoover's size guide puts most at 160 to 180cm tall, 70 to 100cm wide and 60 to 80cm deep, with standard widths of 86 to 95cm. Those ranges explain why a width on a product card isn't the whole decision. LG advises measuring doorways, hallways, stairs and tight corners, as well as the final space. It suggests room for the doors to open at least 90 degrees clear of cabinets and islands, and around 5cm at each side and the back for airflow.
The depth is easy to overlook. Trusted Reviews says the Hisense RQ5P640SYSD is 725mm deep and will stand past a typical counter. Its Samsung alternative has counter depth and won't project as far. I would decide whether that projection works in the room before comparing screens or ice makers. This measuring video from ao.com shows what to look at before delivery.
Water matters too. Beko explains that a non-plumbed dispenser draws from a refillable tank, whereas a plumbed one needs a connection near the appliance. That difference is about where the fridge can stand and whether refilling a tank suits you. This poll asks about the arrangement that would work in your kitchen.
Two reviewed American-style choices
Trusted Reviews names the Hisense RQ5P640SYSD its best overall fridge freezer. I can see why it appeals if a large, adaptable interior matters more than a flush line with the worktop. Its review describes 640 litres in total: a 390-litre fridge behind double doors and two 125-litre freezer compartments. The right-hand freezer compartment can become extra fridge space. A 5-litre tank feeds the non-plumbed water dispenser without taking up door space, and the automatic ice maker makes cubes and nuggets.
Trusted Reviews found that the water isn't filtered, and the fridge averaged 5.15°C against a 4°C setting, though it stayed within about 0.45°C; the freezer averaged -20.28°C. The shop listing gives class D, 276 kWh a year and dimensions of 1790 x 910 x 725 mm. I'd favour this Hisense if the flexible compartments and tank dispenser answer a real need, with the depth and measured fridge temperature in mind.

The Samsung Bespoke AI Family Hub RS90F66BETEU is a different proposition: a side-by-side, plumbed model whose 21.5-inch screen is a major part of the choice. Trusted Reviews calls it its best alternative fridge freezer. Its review lists 614 litres, divided into a 389-litre fridge and 225-litre freezer. It found the touch sensor the better way to use the auto-open doors; voice opening through Bixby was hit and miss. Its fridge averaged 3.51°C against a 4°C setting and the freezer averaged -19°C.
I'd only put the Samsung ahead if you'd use its screen, counter depth and plumbed water. Trusted Reviews says there are cheaper options with similar features if you won't use the screen. The Samsung UK warranty is 24 months for fridges, with a 10-year parts-only Digital Inverter compressor warranty for appliances bought on or after April 2026.

I haven't added one of the less expensive American-style models merely to fill out the list. The Haier, Hisense PureFlat, LG and Samsung Series 6 and 7 models in our shops had no independent review I could find beyond members-only Which? scores. A shop listing can establish dimensions and features, but it cannot stand in for a review of how the appliance performs.
What the energy label really buys you
The label's kWh per annum is a standard test figure, calculated from average daily use over 365 days, rather than a reading from your kitchen. It gives a common basis for comparing models. The noise figure matters in an open room too: the label classes run from A below 30 dB(A), through B from 30 to under 36 and C from 36 to under 42, to D at 42 or more. The Bosch 60/40's 35 dB(A) sits in B; the narrower 50/50's 41 dB(A) sits in C.
At the October to December 2026 electricity cap rate of 26.32p per kWh, the KGN27N's 229 kWh works out at about £60.27 a year and the KGN362LDFG's 199 kWh at about £52.38. That's 30 kWh and about £7.90 a year between them. The Hisense's listed 276 kWh gives about £72.64. These are our calculations at that cap rate, which changes every three months; your usage can differ from the label test. Our running-cost guide puts appliance electricity costs in wider context.
Reliability is harder to compress into one class. Which?'s survey of 5,132 fridge freezers found breakdowns for no obvious reason, ice in the fridge and ice in frost-free freezers to be the most common faults. It keeps brand ratings for members. I wouldn't claim that one of these particular picks will last longer on that evidence. If the appliance is going into an outbuilding, Which? says most UK freezers have climate class SN, for rooms from 10°C to 32°C; a colder space can invalidate the warranty on a model not made for it. The rating plate or manual has the class.
A Black Friday banner is only the beginning
The model and its fit still matter more than the sale date. Which? tracked 175 appliances and found that 83% were cheaper or the same price at least once outside the four-week Black Friday period; all were cheaper or the same at some point in the six months either side. That study isn't a price history for these exact fridge freezers, but it is a reason to judge the actual model and current shop offers instead of the banner. Our Black Friday guide explains how to assess a deal, and price drops shows items whose prices have fallen.
The old machine and the delivery belong in that decision. Retailers must take back a like-for-like old appliance free when you buy a new one, though they may charge transport if they collect it from your home. A delivery service that removes the old fridge may have a charge. Fridges and freezers need controlled treatment because they contain refrigerant gases and foam blowing agents; Recycle Your Electricals has a postcode locator for places taking electricals. Beko advises standing a delivered fridge freezer upright for at least 4 hours before switching it on, so the compressor oil settles.

I'd make the sale banner wait for the fit, split and delivery route. The integrated exception shows why: a reviewed machine sold out at one of the two shops doesn't make a useful live comparison. The right fridge freezer is the one that fits the room and your food, with a review behind the model and a real choice of shops beside it.
