The story
Avon began in 1886 in New York, when founder David H. McConnell, a travelling book salesman, found that customers preferred the free perfume samples to the books. He mixed his first fragrances himself and recruited women as sales Representatives, an unusual business model at the time.
Representatives are still at the heart of the company in the UK.
The range
The site is organised into make-up, skincare, fragrance and bath and body. Anew is the anti-ageing skincare line, and Power Stay and Ultra Colour Glimmersticks are among the make-up favourites. Delivery
Avon’s own site sends orders to UK addresses by Evri. Standard and next working day options are shown at checkout, with free delivery once you reach a minimum spend. Next day isn’t available to every postcode, including the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland and England. It doesn’t deliver outside the UK, but a global directory points to Avon’s local sites abroad.
