BioGaia was founded in Sweden in 1990 by Peter Rothschild and Jan Annwall, who were importing organic vegetables and yoghurt and began looking at friendly bacteria to extend shelf life. That led them to Limosilactobacillus reuteri, formerly known as Lactobacillus reuteri, and they went on to acquire the patent for it. The range
