What Cal.com does

This is Cal.com, a scheduling platform from a fully remote company that turns your availability into a booking link. It is free for individuals and scales up to teams and larger organisations.

  • Booking links and event types

Each meeting type gets its own short link with set durations, locations, booking questions and limits such as minimum notice, buffers and daily caps. Links can be public, hidden or single-use private links.

  • Calendar sync and availability

Cal.com checks every connected calendar, including Google, Outlook, Apple and Zoho, to avoid double bookings, detects the booker's time zone and supports several availability schedules with date overrides and holidays.

  • Team scheduling and routing

Round-robin, collective and managed event types share bookings across a team. Routing forms send each booker to the right person using their answers, CRM ownership in Salesforce or HubSpot, or attributes such as region.

  • Workflows and reminders

Workflows send emails, SMS and WhatsApp messages before or after bookings, cancellations and reschedules. The free plan gets templated workflows; custom ones need Teams.

  • Paid bookings

Bookers can pay upfront through Stripe, PayPal or Cal Pay, which needs no separate account and supports cards and PayPal, with a refund rule set per event.

  • Embeds and developer tools

Booking pages embed inline, as a pop-up or as a floating button on any site. Developers get webhooks, a REST API, OAuth, an MCP server for AI assistants and Atoms, ready-made booking components.

  • Cal Video and Cal.ai

Cal Video is a built-in video call option, so no Zoom licence is needed. Cal.ai is an AI phone agent that calls people to book or confirm appointments, billed by the minute in credits.

  • Security and compliance

Cal.com states ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA compliance. Organizations adds SAML single sign-on, SCIM provisioning and role-based permissions.

Cons

  • Texts to UK numbers use paid credits, while US and Canada texts are free on Teams
  • Seats are billed on the month's peak team size, not the end count
  • Commercial code went closed source in April 2026, upsetting some users
  • Reviewers report trouble with Microsoft Exchange 2019 calendars and Cal Pay withdrawals

Good for

  • Developers embedding scheduling into their own product through the API
  • Healthcare and regulated firms that need HIPAA, SSO and audit controls

Look elsewhere if

  • Teams that want UK pound pricing and VAT shown upfront

  • Anyone choosing it mainly as fully open-source software after the 2026 licence change
  • Firms relying on on-premises Microsoft Exchange calendars

Cal.com: what to know before you pay

The product

Cal.com is scheduling software. You share a booking link, people pick a slot, and the app checks your calendars for clashes, sends reminders and adds the meeting to your diary. It connects to calendars including Google, Outlook and Apple, and to video tools such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

The features

Beyond simple links, Cal.com offers round-robin and collective bookings for teams, routing forms, recurring events, workflows for reminders and follow-ups, payments through Stripe and PayPal, and booking analytics. Developers can embed scheduling in their own product through its API and components. Teams that move from another scheduler can import their existing events, and an instant meetings feature handles last-minute calls. Cal.ai adds an AI agent for scheduling calls, billed on usage.

Pricing

There is a free plan for individuals with unlimited event types. Paid plans for teams and larger organisations add shared availability, routing, branding control, single sign-on and enterprise support, and each starts with a free trial. Paying yearly costs less than paying monthly, and enterprise pricing is agreed with sales. Prices are in dollars.

Who it suits

Freelancers and coaches can run on the free plan alone. Sales and support teams use the team features to share bookings between people, while larger companies look to the organisation plans for security controls. Cal.com says it holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification and is GDPR and HIPAA compliant.

The company

Cal.com describes itself as infrastructure for time coordination. It was founded in 2021, works as a fully distributed team with no physical headquarters, and practises open salaries and shares company metrics publicly.
