The story
Candles Direct describes itself as a combined retail and online business with a long retailing history behind it, and says that makes it one of the largest candle retailers in the UK. It sells online to the UK and Ireland, and ships to a wide range of European destinations too.
The range
Yankee Candle and WoodWick are the headline names, alongside P.F. Candle Co. and Wax Lyrical. Jar candles come in several sizes, from small tumblers to large jars, with votives, tea lights, wax melts and tins for people who prefer something smaller. Beyond candles there are reed diffusers, plug-in refills, ultrasonic diffusers, room sprays and incense, plus car jars and vent sticks for the car.
Gifts
Gift sets are grouped by occasion, such as birthdays, weddings, teacher thank-yous and Christmas, and by recipient, such as her or him. Gift cards are sold too, which helps when you are unsure which fragrance someone likes.
Delivery
Candles Direct aims to despatch orders within a day of being placed. Parcels in the UK and Ireland travel with couriers including Royal Mail, DPD, Parcel Force and DHL, and an express service is available for faster delivery. A signature may be needed on arrival. Costs depend on where you live and the size of the basket, so they are shown on its shipping page and at checkout.
Saving
The loyalty scheme gives points on purchases, and those points can be used against later orders. There is also a sale section on the site. Any live code is listed on this page: copy it and enter it at checkout.
Returns
The refund policy lets you request a return within a set window after your item arrives. Items must be in the condition you received them, in original packaging, with proof of purchase. Ask first, because parcels sent back without a request are not accepted. Perishable, custom and personal care goods, sale items and gift cards are excluded, so check the policy before ordering.
