The playground, where an agent is tested before it is deployed

No-code AI customer support agents trained on your own content, for websites, WhatsApp, email, Slack and phone
Chatbase has a 7-day free trial. Prices in US dollars as AdChatbase's pricing page showed them on 11 October 2026.
Chatbase is a no-code platform for building AI customer support agents trained on a business's own website, files and help content, then placing them on its site, WhatsApp, email, Slack and phone lines. It suits small and mid-sized businesses that want a support agent without building one. The pricing page lists no free plan: paid plans start at $40 a month after a 7-day trial, and yearly billing takes 20% off.
An agent learns from uploaded files, pasted text, Q&A pairs, Notion pages or a crawl of a website, and answers from that material rather than being retrained. Higher plans can resync sources automatically and learn from past Zendesk or Salesforce tickets.
The same agent can sit in a website chat bubble or iframe, and answer on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Slack and email. Install guides cover WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Framer, Bubble and Shopify.
Agents can do tasks as well as answer: look up Stripe subscriptions and invoices, check Shopify orders and carts, book meetings through Calendly or Cal.com, collect leads and call a business's own API through custom actions.
From the Standard plan, a built-in helpdesk lets staff take over conversations, with ticket statuses, mentions and AI-drafted replies. Escalation can also go to Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Intercom and other helpdesks.
Standard and above add voice, telephony and outbound campaigns, with calls connected through Twilio, Genesys or a SIP trunk. A live call can be transferred to a human phone number.
Every conversation is logged with a confidence score, and a weak answer can be corrected so the agent uses the fix next time. Analytics show chats by country and channel, topics, sentiment and helpdesk metrics.
Plain-language procedures tell the agent which steps to follow, and guardrails restrict topics and block sensitive data. Signed tokens can verify a logged-in customer before the agent shows their account details.

Prices in US dollars; the pricing page doesn't mention VAT. Yearly billing is 20% off. Extra credits cost $40 per 1,000, extra agents $25 a month, and removing Chatbase branding $99 a month. Prices in US dollars, from AdChatbase's pricing page on 11 October 2026. Chatbase may charge VAT on top, and prices can change.
“The interface is excellent: setting up, cloning and fine-tuning agents, actions and widgets is intuitive enough that my client's team can handle a lot themselves.”
“Chatbase's product has made a huge difference to what we can offer parents”
“Charged three times after I explicitly told them to close my account”
Chatbase is worth it for a business that wants an AI agent answering customer questions from its own content within a day, without hiring a developer. It is harder to justify for a very small site, because the pricing page lists no free plan and the cheapest plan is $40 a month.
Set-up is the part reviewers praise most. An agent learns from uploaded files, pasted text, Q&A pairs, Notion pages or a crawl of a website, then answers from that material in a chat bubble, on WhatsApp, by email or in Slack. Recent Trustpilot reviews are mostly warm about the support team, while the critical ones describe wrong answers, slow replies and billing disputes.
Chatbase charges in US dollars, from $40 a month for Hobby to $500 a month for Pro, with Enterprise priced on request. The pricing page does not mention VAT or pound prices, so the sterling cost depends on the exchange rate and any card fees.
Add-ons push the bill up. Extra credits cost $40 per 1,000 through auto-recharge, each extra agent is $25 a month, and removing the "Powered by Chatbase" badge is $99 a month. Credits are also used faster than the plan names suggest: each request to the AI model costs credits depending on the model chosen, and an agent that runs an action can make two or more requests for one reply.
Chatbase has the longer list of integrations and channels, while Weav is cheaper to start, with a free Lite plan and a Plus plan at $29 a month. The choice comes down to how many places the agent needs to reach.
Chatbase connects to Stripe, Shopify, Zendesk, HubSpot, Salesforce, Calendly, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack, and Standard adds phone calls through Twilio, Genesys or a SIP trunk. Watermelon, which prices in euros and has a free plan capped at 50 conversations a month, is another option for European businesses. Heyy is built around WhatsApp and Instagram conversations, and Chipp suits people building simple AI chatbots to share or sell.
Chatbase says it is SOC 2 Type II compliant, supports GDPR and does not use connected data to train models, and that model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic can't train on it either. HIPAA-eligible workspaces are limited to Enterprise.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, a data processing agreement is published, and the Trust Center lists subprocessors. The security FAQ states that the database and application run on AWS in the US (us-east-1), managed by Supabase and Vercel. A UK business that must keep personal data in the UK or EU should take that into account and check the DPA's transfer terms before signing up.
Paying yearly is the only discount Chatbase states: it takes 20% off every self-serve plan, so Hobby falls from $40 to $32 a month. The 7-day trial on Hobby, Standard and Pro gives time to check answer quality before committing.
It also pays to size the plan to real traffic. Auto-recharge credits never expire, so a small site can stay on Hobby and top up in a busy month rather than moving to Standard, and choosing a cheaper model uses fewer credits per reply. When removing team members, the extra member slots have to be reduced by hand on the Plans page, or billing stays the same. No student, start-up or non-profit discount is listed.

The pricing page lists no free plan, only Hobby, Standard and Pro with a 7-day trial each, plus Enterprise. Some third-party listings still show an older free tier, so the pricing page is the one to trust.
Each request to the AI model uses credits, and the number depends on the model. Subscription credits renew on the 1st of every calendar month and unused ones don't carry over, while auto-recharge credits bought at $40 per 1,000 never expire.
A workspace owner opens Workspace settings, then Plans, and clicks Cancel Plan, which turns off auto-renewal. The plan and add-ons stay active until the renewal date. The docs don't mention refunds, and downgrades to a cheaper plan apply straight away with a prorated credit.
Yes, on Standard at $150 a month and above, which include voice, telephony and outbound campaigns. Calls connect through a Twilio number, a Genesys contact centre or a SIP trunk, and voice minutes use message credits.
Yes. The agent can open a ticket in Chatbase's own helpdesk, where staff can take over the conversation, or escalate to Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Intercom, Help Scout and other helpdesks.
