Cloud Nine: what to know before you buy
The story
Cloud Nine was founded in 2009, but its founder Susan Powls says the story starts earlier. She helped create GHD, then left in 2006 convinced heat styling could be kinder, with a tool that adapts its temperature to different hair types. That idea became Cloud Nine. The company says it is still independent and still based in Harrogate.
The range
Straighteners are the heart of it, in standard, wide, slim and contouring shapes, with a touch version for simpler control. There are also hair dryers with volumiser attachments, curlers, styling sets and accessories. Gift sets and bundles are common, including styling tools packed with a case.
The tech
Its straighteners have a choice of heat settings and a Revive Mode, which it describes as reducing pressure on the hair. Some plates use Sericite to lock in moisture, and vibrating plates are meant to cut friction. Cloud Nine says its tools are designed and made in-house and built to last, and it offers recycling for old ones.
The temperature
The Temperature Calculator on its site asks about your hair and suggests a heat setting, so you aren't guessing. It is a useful first stop if you are choosing between models or buying for someone else.
Delivery
Orders go out with DPD, and the delivery page covers standard and next-day options, with a signature needed on arrival. DPD Click & Collect is available if you won't be home.
