Choosing between single trip and annual cover
Explorer offers single trip and annual multi trip policies. A single trip policy suits a one-off holiday, while an annual multi trip policy suits people who travel several times a year. Annual policies have a maximum age of 79, and trips within the UK are covered only if you have at least three nights of pre-booked accommodation.
Selecting your trip type on the quote
Cruise, winter sports and backpacker are trip types you select during the quote process. Cruise cover is included as standard on single trip and annual multi trip policies, so you do not need a separate product for a cruise. Backpacker policies are available to customers aged 35 and below.
Adding winter sports cover
Winter sports is a trip type you can select when getting a quote. On an annual policy, the FAQ states that winter sports cover is up to a maximum of 17 days per policy year. For single trip policies, winter sports cover is available up to and including 65 years of age. Off piste skiing is covered only under the supervision of a qualified guide or instructor.
Checking eligibility and timing
Cover depends on your primary residence and GP registration in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, and your trip must start and end there. Any trip that has already begun when you buy is not covered, so buy before you leave. The WW1 zone covers anywhere in the world excluding the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico, while the WW2 zone covers anywhere in the world.
