The story

Hampton & Astley was founded in 2017 by Caroline Brooks in Staffordshire. The story goes that a soft, thick high street towel left her disappointed: it lost its softness after a wash, smeared water around rather than absorbing it and shed fibres everywhere.

The brand says that taught it that thickness isn't quality, and that a towel's real job is to dry you quickly. So it designed its own.

The towels

The towels are made from 100% Egyptian cotton in a loop-pile weave. The brand says the pile is designed to get fuller and fluffier over the first few washes and to stay soft afterwards. Sets are built around bath towels, hand towels, face cloths and a larger bath sheet, and you can also buy pieces individually.

The bedding

The same thinking runs through the rest of the range. Bedding uses Egyptian cotton sateen, which the brand says balances a silky feel with breathability for all-year comfort. There are duvet sets, sheets and pillowcases, plus extra deep fitted sheets for thicker mattresses. Check your mattress depth against the listing before you order.

Everything else

Beyond towels and sheets you will find bathrobes and natural wax scented candles, so it works for a bathroom refresh or a gift. The brand has also collected awards and press mentions for its bedding and towels.

Delivery

UK delivery is free, with standard orders sent by Royal Mail and larger orders going next day where available, excluding weekends. They also post to many countries in Europe and beyond, with costs worked out at checkout.

Returns

If you're not happy, email them before sending anything back. Items should be unused, unwashed and in their original packaging, with towels and bedding folded as close to their original state as you can manage.
