The story
Jonny’s Sister began in August 2005 with the idea of making handcrafted gifts from the best of British craftsmanship. The letter cushions, sewn by seamstresses in the Somerset studio, became an early favourite, and by 2008 the range had grown to dozens of gifts built around personalisation for people you love.
Along the way the company has been a finalist in the Gift of the Year awards and has won an award for its customer service, and its gifts have been sold through Next.
The range
The site groups gifts three ways: by interest, by recipient and by occasion. Interests include gardening, baking, drinks and sport, recipients run from grandparents to newlyweds, and occasions cover weddings, anniversaries, newborns, retirement and birthdays.
Homeware is a big part of it, with barware, gardenware, kitchen and tableware, nursery signs and framed prints. Kids’ jumpers and the Tilly Pig piggy banks sit alongside.
Personalising
Many products can carry a name, date or message. The options differ from one product to the next, so check the product page for what you can change and how it will look before you add it to the basket.
Personalised gifts are made to order, so the company asks you to allow for production time on top of delivery, and tells shoppers who need a gift by a certain date to let them know.
Delivery
Orders go by Royal Mail. Standard tracked delivery is the base option, with next-day and two-day services on some products, and the company says it posts to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Charges, any free-delivery level and the services open to your basket are shown at checkout, and international parcels can occasionally cost more depending on the final weight and size.
Saving
Live codes and deals are listed on this page. Copy a code and enter it at their checkout. The site also runs a savings section and a newsletter for new products and offers, and the free-delivery level is the other way to keep the total down by putting gifts in one basket.
