Choosing animations in the Kite editor
Mac screen recorder that turns recordings into product demo videos with auto zoom, 3D mockups, animated text and AI voiceovers
Kite has a free plan. Prices in US dollars as Kite's pricing page showed them on 11 October 2026.
Kite is a Mac screen recorder and editor for software launch and demo videos, adding automatic zooms, 3D device mockups, animated text and AI voiceovers to your recordings. It suits founders and product teams without a video editor. The free plan has every major feature but watermarks exports. Pro costs $59 a month, or $40 a month billed yearly, which saves about 32%. A Windows version is in beta.
Kite's recorder tracks your cursor and clicks, then zooms and pans to follow the action. Zooms can also be added or adjusted by hand on the timeline, and the cursor can be smoothed and restyled.
Combine as many screen recordings, imported videos and images as you like in one project, then split, trim and speed up clips.
Place recordings in 3D MacBook, iPhone and other device frames, with one-click cinematic 3D animations, intro and outro animations, 3D shader backgrounds and effects such as depth of field and bloom.
Add animated title and ending scenes, text beside or over recordings, animated 3D callouts, and blur areas to hide sensitive information.
Write a script and choose from thousands of ElevenLabs and OpenAI voices, prompted for tone, speed and accent, or connect your own ElevenLabs key for cloned voices. A royalty-free music library is included.
Save project templates and a Brand Kit of colours, fonts and logos. On the Team plan, projects, templates and brand kits are shared through the cloud.
Export up to 4K as MP4 or WebM, including transparent backgrounds, or create a share link. Captions and subtitles are supported.
Recordings stay on your computer unless you share them or use an AI feature that uploads media, and analytics and all cloud and AI features can be switched off.

“With no prior video editing experience, I was able to download Kite and have the launch video ready for PH in about an hour.”
“I was able to spin up a product mockup video for my landing page using a simple screen capture in ~15 minutes.”
“Kite helped get a nice intro video with minimal effort!”
Kite is a desktop app that records your screen and turns the footage into a polished product video, the kind start-ups post for a launch or a new feature.
While you record, Kite tracks your cursor and clicks so it can zoom and pan to follow the action automatically. In the editor you can combine as many recordings, imported videos and images as you like, split, trim and speed up clips, place recordings inside 3D MacBook and iPhone mockups, and add one-click 3D animations, intro and outro animations, animated title scenes and text labels. Callouts and a blur tool highlight or hide parts of the screen, and Pro adds optional AI detection of areas to blur. AI voiceovers draw on thousands of ElevenLabs and OpenAI voices, there is a royalty-free music library, and a Brand Kit stores colours, fonts and logos. Exports go up to 4K as MP4 or WebM, including transparent backgrounds. Kite is built for macOS, with Windows in beta.
Kite charges in US dollars: Pro is $59 a month, or $480 a year ($40 a month), and Team is $79 per seat a month, or $660 a year per seat ($55 a month), with a minimum of three seats.
The minimum Team bill is $165 a month on yearly billing. The site doesn't mention VAT or pounds.
Kite is the better pick for complete demo videos with several clips, text and narration, while Screen Studio suits a single polished recording.
Kite's own comparison page, dated July 2026, says Screen Studio costs $29 a month or $108 a year, has no free exports and works on Mac only. Each Screen Studio project holds one video, with no text features. Kite combines recordings and imported media, adds 3D animations, AI voiceovers and animated text, and lets free users export with a watermark. Screen Studio is far cheaper on yearly billing, so for one tidy recording with auto zoom and a webcam bubble it costs less. Bear in mind that this comparison comes from Kite itself.
Kite is for produced launch videos, while Tella and Cap are for recording, sharing and hosting everyday videos.
Tella costs $13 per user a month on annual billing and focuses on camera layouts, transcript editing, hosted video pages and viewer analytics. Cap is open source, free for personal use, with Cap Pro at $8.16 a month billed annually and instant share links. Neither offers Kite's 3D device mockups, cinematic animations or built-in AI voiceovers, but both are better for quick talking-head walkthroughs and team video messaging at a lower price.
Kite describes itself as a local-first app, so recordings and media stay on your Mac unless you choose to share them.
Files leave your computer only when you create a share link, share a project with a Team, use an AI feature that uploads media, or send files to support. AI voiceovers send small parts of project data to Kite's servers. Analytics and error logging use Mixpanel and Sentry, and both analytics and all cloud and AI features can be switched off in the privacy settings. Kite publishes its security practices on a Trust Center at trust.kite.video.
