The story
Krisp was founded in 2017 in Yerevan, Armenia, and is headquartered in Berkeley, California. It started with noise cancellation, cleaning up your microphone and the voices you hear on a call, and later added meeting recording, transcripts and summaries.
The product
The app sits between your microphone and whichever call app you use, so noise cancellation works in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack huddles, Webex and Discord. It also records and transcribes meetings on your computer, writes summaries and action items, and can push them to tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack or Notion.
Who it suits
Krisp is for people who spend their day on calls and want clean audio and notes in one tool. If you only want meeting notes, cheaper or free note takers cover that job. It runs on Mac and Windows, with a Chrome extension, a web app and mobile apps.
Meetings
Beyond noise, Krisp works as a note taker that needs no bot in the call. It transcribes what is said, writes a summary with action items, and lets you ask questions about a meeting afterwards. For in-person or phone conversations there is a mobile app. Because the recording happens on your computer, other people on the call see nothing extra join.
Pricing
Krisp has no free-forever plan. New accounts get a free trial of the paid features without a card, then you pick a paid plan. Annual billing costs less than monthly, and larger teams can ask sales about volume pricing. Prices are in US dollars, so your card provider converts the charge and may add a foreign transaction fee. Check the pricing page for current figures.
Your data
Krisp states that English transcripts are created on your own device, that meeting data goes to its cloud only if you opt in, and that customer data is never used to train its models. Stored data sits on US servers and there is no regional option, so UK organisations handling client data should check the transfer arrangements first.
