The story
Leisure Lakes Bikes was set up in 1981 by brothers Tim and Chris Noy, who had a background in teaching. It started as a windsurfing business at Leisure Lakes, between Preston and Southport. When the wind dropped, people turned up with bikes instead, and the brothers began selling them.
Today it is still described as family run, with each store shaped by the people who work there.
The range
You will find mountain, road, electric, gravel, hybrid, folding and kids’ bikes, along with frames, second-hand and ex-demo bikes. Around them sit clothing, footwear, helmets, body protection, parts, tools and accessories from well-known cycling brands. It suits riders who want the bike and the kit from one place.
Delivery
Bikes arrive boxed and need a little final setup. The shop says every bike ordered online comes with a folder, instructions and the basic tools to finish the job, and that bikes are packed by a qualified mechanic. Other orders can go by Royal Mail, DPD or Parcelforce, with the options, costs and dates shown at checkout.
Some stores also hand-deliver ready-to-ride bikes locally, so ask if yours is one of them.
Click and collect
Everything on the site can be ordered online and collected from a store, and the shop describes this as free. It will tell you when your order is ready to collect. Bikes get a pre-delivery inspection first, so it will arrange a collection time with you. Take your confirmation email and photo ID.
Saving
Alongside any code listed on this page, the shop promotes finance on selected purchases, Cycle to Work schemes and Klarna at checkout. Codes are entered at checkout, so check the terms on the offer before you order.
Returns
You can return most items in showroom condition, with their original packaging and a receipt, either by post or to any store. Wrong-size returns are at your own postage cost. Faulty or incorrect items are handled differently, and bikes should stay unridden and boxed while the shop arranges collection. The full terms are on its returns page.
