By age first. Recommended titles carry an age band, and the Browse by Age menu has a page for each year from 3 to 14, alongside Baby and Toddler and YA picks. Fiction is split into children's genres such as Adventure Stories, Funny, School Stories, Animal Stories and Traditional Tales, and the factual side runs from dinosaurs to space. Weekly Staff Picks add a short, dated list: on 5 October 2026 it included Aberfan: A Family Story for 11+ readers and David Olusoga's Black and British: An Illustrated History for 9+ readers at £11.69.
The reviews come from two directions. An editorial team that includes Julia Eccleshare MBE, Andrea Reece and Joy Court writes the expert verdicts, while the Kids Reader Review Panel, around 500 readers, librarians and schools, receives free copies (often before publication) and writes reviews of about 250 words. Those reviews also go to publishers for their own promotion. LoveReading4Kids is a partner of The Week Junior Book Awards 2026.
Yes, through a dedicated dyslexia-friendly list. The titles are what LoveReading4Kids calls Super-Readable books, written for dyslexic readers and those with visual stress, and they're sorted by interest age (5+, 7+, 9+, 11+ and teens) rather than reading age, which usually sits between 5 and 8 and is given in each review. That split helps a parent find a book pitched at an older child's interests with a gentler reading level. The site's National Year of Reading 2026 features add background for adults, including pieces on getting teenage boys reading and on why comics count as reading.
Each book bought can send 25% of its cover price to a school the buyer chooses, as credit the school spends on books, at no extra cost to the buyer. On The Lone Husky by Hannah Gold, a £14.99 hardback sold for £13.49 in October 2026, that's about £3.75. Families who arrive through a school's own page have it pre-selected, and schools use the LoveReading4Schools portal to publish wishlists so parents can buy books for classrooms and libraries; The Week Junior Book Awards says the portal supports more than 14,000 UK schools.
If no school is chosen, 10% of the spend goes to the Funding for Schools scheme, which gives state-funded schools grants of £1,000 to £5,000 for reading-for-pleasure books, not textbooks. More than 1,800 schools have applied, and in 2026 the group set up The LoveReading Foundation, a registered charity, to raise more for schools facing disadvantage.
LoveReading4Kids uses the same Royal Mail service as its sister site LoveReading: £2.99 for delivery in two to three days, free over £40, or £3.99 for next day, on orders placed by 3pm Monday to Friday. Delivery covers England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, but not BFPO addresses, British Overseas Territories or anywhere abroad. In-stock books dispatch the same day when ordered before 3pm; others show a lead time of up to three weeks, and pre-orders leave a day or so before publication. For birthdays and Christmas the cut-offs matter: in 2025 the last standard dispatch was 17 December and the last express dispatch 21 December.
Gifts can go straight to the child, since a gift message is free, a gift envelope costs £2 and parcels carry no prices. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery; after a change of mind the refund excludes the original postage and the buyer pays to send the book back. There's little independent customer feedback to go on, as the Trustpilot profile for lovereading4kids.co.uk had no reviews in October 2026.
The 10% off RRP is built into every price, and the LoveReading4Kids FAQ says no further discounts are offered, even on bulk orders, because 25% goes to schools. The saving works best on bigger baskets: a £13.49 hardback and a few paperbacks soon pass the £40 free-delivery line, while a single £6.29 Adventuremice paperback would carry £2.99 postage. Gift cards from £10 to £200 work on both LoveReading sites for 12 months, and National Book Tokens gift cards (physical or digital, not paper) and Bookily cards are accepted. Free membership also enters readers into a monthly £50 gift card draw. The deals listed on this page reflect the standing discount and the school donation.
We don't currently list a confirmed discount code. That doesn't mean the store has no promotions; check its website for current prices.

Its recommendations run from baby and toddler books to young adult fiction, with a Browse by Age page for each year from 3 to 14. Book pages show the age band the editors suggest.

Buyers can search for any UK school by postcode before checkout, or arrive through the school's own page, which pre-selects it. Without a chosen school, 10% of the spend goes to the Funding for Schools scheme for disadvantaged schools.

HarperCollins UK is the online shop of a major book publisher, stocking fiction, non-fiction, classics and new releases. Checking the exact title and format before ordering saves you from the wrong edition.
