Trimming a clip in the Windows app
Free game clipping app that saves your best PC gameplay moments with a hotkey and turns them into shareable links
Medal has a free plan and a 14-day free trial (card needed). Prices in pounds as Medal's pricing page showed them on 11 October 2026.

This is Medal, a game clipping app that records in the background on your Windows PC and saves the moment you press a hotkey. You get an instant link to share, with apps for iPhone and Android too.
Medal keeps recording while you play and saves the last 15 seconds, a minute, 10 minutes or the whole session when you press a hotkey. It says it supports any PC game.
In supported games such as Valorant, League of Legends, Fortnite and Counter-Strike, Medal detects events like kills and clips them without a key press.
Records up to 4K at 144fps, with 60fps by default, using H.264, H.265 or AV1 on Nvidia, AMD or Intel graphics, or the processor.
Game sound, your microphone and Discord voice are recorded separately, so you can balance or mute each one afterwards.
Trim clips, add stickers and build montages in the Medal editor, then share a link straight away or post to your Medal profile.
The iPhone and Android apps show your PC clips, friends' posts and trending clips, and let you post or send clips from your phone. The Android app can also record mobile games.
A Medal Discord bot shares clips into servers, and a game developer SDK lets studios add clipping to their games.

“Medal is a great platform because it's simple and effective to use.”
“It's pretty good. Only wish it didnt lock my fps.”
“no changes can make it somewhat decent nor usable.”
Medal exists on the belief that capturing a clip in a game should be as simple as pulling out your phone to film something. The company says anyone, not just streamers and creators, should be able to save and share a moment for free, without a complicated setup.
Medal runs quietly while you play. When something happens, press a hotkey and it saves the last stretch of play, whether that is a few seconds, a few minutes or the whole session. You can trim the clip, add captions, music or sound effects, and string several together into a montage in its built-in editor. Then you upload it and get a link you can send anywhere.
The recording app is for Windows PCs. Medal says it works with any PC game, and it can record game, microphone and Discord audio as separate tracks. The iPhone and Android apps are for watching, posting and sharing clips on the go, and they sync with your library. Consoles aren't recorded directly, but you can import console captures to edit and share them.
Medal says it is free to download and use, and that free users can clip, edit, upload and share. Premium is the optional upgrade. According to Medal it removes ads and the watermark, lifts the limits on clip length and quality, adds unlimited cloud storage, and unlocks extras such as automatic subtitles and profile customisation. Current plans and prices are on its Premium page.
Medal is for PC players who want to keep and share highlights without learning recording software. If you already clip with another tool or only play on console, it may add little. If you want your best moments in one library, ready to send to friends, it is built for exactly that.

Yes. Medal says you can download it, clip, edit, upload and share for free. Premium is an optional extra that removes ads and watermarks and lifts limits.
Medal's desktop recorder is for Windows PCs. Its mobile apps run on iPhone and Android, but they are for watching and sharing clips rather than recording a PC.
Not directly. Medal supports PC and mobile, but you can import clips from your console's own captures to edit and share them.
Medal says it is built to run lightly in the background with minimal impact. Recording quality and frame rate can be adjusted if your PC is struggling.
