Metcalfe Models
Metcalfe Models makes pre-cut card building kits for railway modellers, sold direct from Bell Busk near Skipton in 00/H0 and N scales. Its kits arrive as printed sheets with components already die-cut, so the build is more about patient assembly than specialist tools.

Metcalfe Models: what to know before you buy
Pick your scale first
Metcalfe runs two scales, 00/H0 and N, and the buildings are sized to match. Check which gauge your layout uses before anything else, because a 00/H0 station will look oversized beside N scale track and rolling stock. The scale is printed on each product listing, so it is worth confirming it against your existing trains and figures.
Check what you actually need to build
Each kit includes full colour printed sheets, pre-cut components and a step by step guide. Metcalfe states you do not need to be an expert or own expensive tools. Still, you will need a cutting surface, an adhesive suited to card and some patience for the finer parts. Budget for these separately from the kit price.
Consider the building before you buy
If you want something to finish quickly, start with a single structure such as a station shelter rather than a larger complex. Larger buildings or a set of related kits suit a longer project. Look at the customer photos to judge how a finished model looks in practice.
Buying direct and delivery
Metcalfe sells direct to customers and to model shops. UK orders are sent by Royal Mail 48 tracked, with a flat postage charge that does not apply to every postcode. Outside the UK, postage is charged at cost and the buyer is responsible for any import duty. Read the current delivery and returns page before ordering, as its terms apply to the stated countries and postcodes.
