MF Traders: what to know before you buy
The story
Mobile Direct is operated by MF Traders Limited, a UK company registered in Oldham. The business started in Manchester dealing in phones and later moved online so customers could order at any hour. It sells without high street shops, and says it passes those savings on, with a promise that the price you see is the price you get.
The range
The core of the shop is phones from Apple, Samsung and Google, alongside tablets, iPads, Apple Watches and smart watches. There are also chargers, cables, laptops, games consoles and headsets. You can browse by brand, by storage and by condition, from brand new through premium, excellent and very good to fair.
Condition grades
Most handsets are refurbished, so the grade matters. The site lists the grade on each product, and says devices are tested and certified by partners such as Phonecheck and Checkmend. Premium items may arrive without original packaging and may have been activated for testing. Items listed as faulty are a different kind of purchase with their own terms.
Delivery
Orders placed before the afternoon cut-off from Monday to Thursday go out the same day for next working day delivery. Later orders and weekend orders leave on the next working day. Royal Mail is the main carrier, with other couriers used at times, and you get tracking by email. Bank holidays fall outside the same-day promise.
Returns
Mobile Direct allows a return window that is longer than the legal minimum. Contact support first rather than posting anything back, and reset the phone and remove any locks or linked accounts. Faults and damage need reporting quickly, with an unboxing video. A changed-mind return can mean a deduction if the seal has been broken, and return postage is yours.
Warranty
Refurbished devices come with a Mobile Direct warranty covering defects, and new ones carry the manufacturer's. It does not cover physical or water damage or battery faults.
