My Nametags sells personalised name labels aimed mainly at parents labelling children's clothes, school uniform and everyday belongings. The main decision is between iron-on labels for garments and sticker labels for hard surfaces, shoes and care labels. The right format depends on what you are marking and how often it will be washed.

Iron-on labels suit school uniforms and other garments, particularly items without a care label such as socks. The site says they are applied with an iron and a silicone sheet, which takes less time than sewing. Stickers are the better fit for hard surfaces like water bottles, lunch boxes, bags and stationery, and they can also go on a clothing care label rather than directly on fabric.
The standard sticker and iron-on labels are 30 x 13mm, which is the size the site recommends for most clothing and jumpers. Ministickers at 16 x 6mm are better for pens, pencils and crayons, or for older children who prefer something discreet. Maxistickers vary in shape and suit larger items such as sports equipment and drinking bottles. Check the text length against the label you choose before ordering.
Sticker labels should go on a clean, dry hard surface, and the site advises waiting 24 hours before putting a labelled item in a dishwasher. Iron-on labels need the silicone sheet supplied with them, and the site warns against ironing directly over the labels afterwards. Because the labels cannot be written on, check spelling, contrast and any phone number before submitting an order.
Orders are normally dispatched within 48 hours, but the site suggests allowing up to 10 working days for delivery in the UK. An Express Tracked option is available at checkout for an additional fee. Address corrections need to be requested within an hour of ordering, so double-check the door number and postcode first.
We currently list 3 discount codes. Check each offer's terms, country and expiry date before using it. The retailer confirms eligibility at checkout.
Iron-on labels are the usual choice for garments, especially where there is no care label such as socks. Stickers work better on bottles, lunch boxes and stationery.
The site says the labels are waterproof and designed to be washed, and that they are washing machine safe up to 60 degrees, though the item should be left to set first when using stickers.
