Shopping with Octopus Energy

Octopus sells two plain tariffs for most homes. Flexible Octopus is variable, with prices that move every three months and no exit fees. Fixed Octopus holds your rates for 12 or 18 months, and exit fees may apply if you leave early.

Smart tariffs

With a smart meter there's more choice:

  • Octopus Tracker: prices that change daily with the wholesale market, for gas, electricity or both
  • Agile Octopus: half-hourly electricity prices, set a day ahead
  • Intelligent Octopus Go: cheaper overnight EV charging, with off-peak hours for the rest of the home too
  • Intelligent Octopus Flux and Outgoing Octopus: for homes with solar panels or a battery that sell power back to the grid

Octopus's published tariffs are in my energy comparison, so you can see how Flexible and Fixed Octopus stand against other suppliers and the price cap for your region and usage. Smart and EV tariffs depend on when you use electricity, so check those against your own habits on Octopus's site.
