Open-source document sharing with page-by-page analytics and secure virtual data rooms for fundraising and M&A
Papermark has a free plan and a 7-day free trial. Prices in euros as Papermark's pricing page showed them on 11 October 2026.
Papermark is an open-source alternative to DocSend for sharing pitch decks and confidential documents through tracked links, with virtual data rooms for fundraising and M&A. It suits founders, investors and deal teams. A free plan covers 50 documents; Pro costs €29 a month or €24 billed yearly, and data rooms start at €149 a month or €99 billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial. Self-hosting the code is free.
Share a PDF, deck, spreadsheet, video or Notion page as a link and see every visit, the time spent on each page and the viewer's location, with versions tracked separately.
Require an email, password, email verification or NDA before viewing, set expiry dates, block downloads, allow or block specific people, and add screenshot protection or a dynamic watermark.
Organise many files into folders for investors or buyers, with folder and file permissions, viewer groups, a generated index, bulk upload and data room analytics.
Viewers can ask questions inside a data room and get answers in threaded conversations, and you can ask them to upload files with set permissions.
An AI data room assistant answers viewers' questions with cited sources, and AI redaction finds personal data in documents for you to review and remove.
Send documents and data rooms from your own domain with your logo, colours and social cards, with full white-labelling on enterprise plans.
A public API, a command-line tool and an MCP server let developers and AI agents such as Claude or Cursor create and run data rooms.
The full code is on GitHub under AGPLv3, so companies can run Papermark on their own infrastructure or bring their own storage bucket.

“It was a hassle to use DocSend and so many other expensive tools over the years.”
“Excited to use it and save a lot of subscription fees.”
Papermark is used to share documents through a link instead of an attachment, so you can see who opened them, how long they spent on each page and stop access later. Its data rooms bundle many files for investors, buyers or auditors.
Each link can require an email address, a password, email verification or an NDA before anything loads, and can block downloads, add a dynamic watermark or block screenshots. Analytics show every visit page by page. Data rooms add folder and file permissions, viewer groups, a Q&A module, file requests and an audit log, and an AI assistant can answer viewers' questions with cited sources. Newer features include AI redaction of personal data and an MCP server, API and command-line tool so AI agents can build and run data rooms.
Papermark shows prices in euros by default, with a US dollar option. Billed monthly, Pro is €29, Business €79, Data Rooms €149 and Data Rooms Plus €349 a month; yearly billing cuts these to €24, €59, €99 and €249 a month.
The free plan allows one user, 50 links and 50 documents with page-by-page analytics and 30 days of analytics history. Pro adds custom branding, more file types, folders and 100 documents. Business includes three team members, 1,000 documents, a custom domain, email verification, screenshot protection and the API. Data Rooms adds unlimited data rooms and storage, NDAs, dynamic watermarks and file-level permissions, and Plus goes to five users with a Q&A module, audit log and dedicated account manager. Extra team members cost from €19 to €49 a month depending on plan and billing. A UK card will convert from euros, and the pricing page does not say how VAT is applied.
Papermark is good value for startups and small deal teams that need tracked links or a data room without paying enterprise data room prices, and the free plan is enough to share a pitch deck.
Product Hunt reviewers rate it 4.7 from a handful of reviews, mostly people moving from DocSend to save money.
Papermark is the cheaper and more flexible choice for most founders, because it has a free plan, open-source code and data rooms from €99 a month; DocSend suits teams already paying for Dropbox, which owns it.
Both offer tracked links, page analytics and data rooms. Papermark adds self-hosting, EU hosting by default and a custom domain on Business. For large M&A deals, established data rooms such as Intralinks, Datasite and iDeals offer heavier compliance and support, and Papermark publishes its own comparisons arguing they cost far more. If you only need tracked links rather than documents, Dub is an open-source link tool in a similar spirit.
The maker says Papermark is SOC 2 Type II audited and ISO 27001 certified, encrypts documents at rest and in transit, and supports GDPR, HIPAA and CCPA workflows.
The hosted version stores data in Frankfurt in the EU by default, with US hosting and other regions for enterprise customers, which helps UK firms that want data kept in Europe. Because the code is published on GitHub under the AGPLv3 licence, a company can also run its own copy on its own servers. Watermarks, NDAs and audit trails are on the data room plans rather than the free plan.
Yearly billing is the main saving, which the maker says is up to 35%: Business drops from €79 to €59 a month and Data Rooms from €149 to €99.

Yes. The free plan needs no card and includes one user, 50 links, 50 documents, unlimited visitors and page-by-page analytics. The code is also open source, so it can be self-hosted at no licence cost.
The Data Rooms plan has a 7-day free trial. The other paid plans can be tried by starting on the free plan and upgrading.
The pricing page says plans can be cancelled or paused at any time.
The hosted version is in the EU by default, on AWS in Frankfurt. US hosting is available, and enterprise customers can choose other regions.
Yes. A custom domain for documents is included on the Business plan, and a custom domain for data rooms on the Data Rooms plans, along with custom branding.
Business and the data room plans include an API, a command-line tool and an MCP server, which the maker says works with Claude and Cursor so AI agents can create and manage data rooms.
