What is pliability and who is it for?
pliability is a subscription app of follow-along stretching and mobility videos, aimed at people who train and want to recover better, plus anyone stiff from sitting. It was called ROMWOD until September 2022 and grew out of the CrossFit world, and it is now the official stretching partner of HYROX.
Each day brings fresh routines of roughly 12 to 20 minutes, and there are targeted sessions for hips, back, shoulders, knees and neck, multi-week programmes for sports and goals, sleep and breathing sessions, and pregnancy routines. You can describe what you need in your own words ("tight hips after a long run") and the app builds a session from its filmed pose library. On iPhone and iPad a 3-minute camera-based mobility test scores your range of motion and suggests routines.
How much does pliability cost in the UK?
On the UK App Store the Athlete Monthly subscription is £19.99 and Athlete Annual is £179.99, which works out at about £15 a month. pliability does not publish prices on its own website; web sign-up shows the plans only after you enter your details, and its help centre describes monthly, 6-month and annual plans.
Every new account starts with a 7-day free trial of the full library. A card is needed to start it, and the plan you picked is charged automatically on day 7 unless you cancel first. Teams of 10 to 150 people can sign up for a business plan that starts at $109 a month for the first 10 members.
Is pliability worth the money?
For people who will stretch most days, reviewers often say it is: the routines are well filmed, the daily series keeps a habit going and the personalised plans help with recovery from injury. App Store reviewers in the UK give it 4.7 out of 5 from about 2,000 ratings.
The complaints are about price and billing rather than content. Several UK reviewers call it expensive for a library of stretching videos and point out that free YouTube routines cover similar ground. The bigger issue is renewals: pliability's policy is that it gives no refunds once a renewal has been charged, including annual plans renewed by mistake, and its Trustpilot score of 1.4 out of 5 comes mostly from people charged after a trial or renewal. Some beginners also find the stretches advanced.
pliability vs GOWOD and Bend: which mobility app is better?
pliability suits people who want long, guided, video-led sessions and sport-specific programmes, especially for CrossFit, HYROX, running and golf. GOWOD is the closest rival for functional fitness athletes and is built around mobility tests and short daily routines, while Bend is a cheaper, simpler stretching app with illustrated stretches rather than filmed coaching.
None of these is in the same league as physiotherapy for an injury. pliability's own pain-relief sessions are general routines, so anyone with ongoing pain should get it assessed first.
How do you cancel pliability without being charged?
Cancel before day 7 of the trial, and for paid plans well before the renewal date, through the right channel. Subscriptions bought on the website are cancelled in a web browser under Settings, Membership and Billing, Cancel Membership; the app itself cannot manage accounts. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled through Apple or Google.
pliability says a valid cancellation always produces a confirmation email, so if that email does not arrive the subscription may still be running. The same menu offers to pause a subscription instead of cancelling it. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel billing.
How do you get pliability cheaper?
The annual plan is the main saving: £179.99 a year against £239.88 for twelve months at £19.99, a saving of about 25%. pliability says it does not offer ongoing discounts. Its extended 3-month trial is only for US military and first responders, and its HSA and FSA savings apply only in the US. Members who signed up on the web can earn a monthly credit by referring friends who go on to pay.
