Shopping with Robert Dyas
What Robert Dyas is good for
Robert Dyas is the practical shop: kitchen electricals such as kettles, toasters, air fryers, slow cookers and coffee machines, home electricals like irons, heaters and fans, batteries, light bulbs, stationery, cleaning supplies, laundry and storage, plus DIY and garden lines. Its history goes back to 1872, and Theo Paphitis bought the business in July 2012. If you need something today, the Collect in 15 Minutes shelf on the homepage lists lines that are available in store.
My honest take: use it for the everyday essentials and for fast collection, and compare prices before you buy anything big.
Ways to pay less
- **MyDyas membership:** free to join. The site advertises 200 bonus points for signing up and making a first purchase, one point for every £1 you spend in store and online, and members-only prices on hundreds of products. One point is worth 1p.
- **Student discount:** 10 percent off in-store purchases when you show your student ID card at the till.
- **Click & Collect:** free on selected lines, available in as little as an hour, which avoids delivery fees altogether.
Delivery
You are only charged one delivery fee per order, and the highest applicable charge applies if you buy several items. Prices vary by product type and location: standard deliveries run Monday to Friday, selected large items cost more, Next Day and Named Day are available to most of mainland UK, and the Scottish Highlands, Isles, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly are priced higher, so check the figure at checkout before paying. Orders for bulky items to the Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly and Isle of Wight are priced separately.
Returns
You have 14 days after receiving the goods to cancel an online order, and a further 14 days to return them. Fresh food, perishable items including live plants and trees, customised products and anything that cannot be returned for hygiene reasons are excluded. You can arrange a collection through the Customer Care team, which runs as an all-day slot between 8am and 6pm on weekdays.
