Choosing between slate and granite
Slate House offers both materials, and the choice matters more than it might seem. The company's own material describes its house signs and memorials as hard wearing and made to withstand British winters, which suits outdoor fixtures such as house numbers and signage. For a memorial, the decision is more about appearance and how you want the piece to sit in a garden or churchyard, so it is worth looking at the slate and granite memorial ranges side by side before deciding.
Photo prints and personalised keepsakes
The brand's photo products, including memorial photographs and coasters in heart, round and square shapes, are a practical way to add a personal image to a keepsake. Check that your image is clear and well cropped before ordering, since the finished piece is a permanent print on stone and will not be easily corrected afterwards. Personalised engraving is also central to the range, so double check names, dates and spelling in the order details.
Delivery costs and timings
Delivery is charged according to the weight of the product, so a large cheeseboard or a heavy memorial will cost more to send than a coaster. The cost is shown in the basket before you pay. Estimated delivery dates appear on each product page, but the company states these are estimates rather than guarantees, so allow a margin if you need an item for a particular date.
Returns on personalised items
Returns work differently for personalised goods. Non-personalised items can be refunded within 28 days if unused and in resaleable condition. Correctly engraved personalised products cannot be refunded, although an engraving that differs from the order will be replaced at no extra cost. If you need to send an item back, post it to the company's Resolven headquarters, and keep proof of postage, as postage costs are non-refundable. Read the returns policy carefully before ordering anything bespoke, and check your spelling and layout at the proof stage.
