Choosing between rolling monthly plans
Smarty's plans are rolling monthly, so the decision is mainly about how much data you use in a typical month. The published range runs from small allowances through to Unlimited, and because you can move between plans each month, you do not need to predict your usage a year in advance. Start with your recent data use on your current phone, then pick a plan that covers it with some margin.
Who the Unlimited plan suits
If you regularly use mobile data for streaming, hotspotting or work, the Unlimited option removes the worry of running out. Smarty's material states there are no fair usage limits on Unlimited data in the UK, and that it does not slow you down. Hotspotting is also described as unrestricted within the UK.
Keeping your number and staying in control
You can keep your existing number when switching, which saves the hassle of telling contacts about a change. Because plans are paid upfront, the cost is easy to predict at the start of each month. The app and online dashboard let you check usage and manage the account without calls or queues.
Coverage and roaming
Smarty runs on a 4G network powered by Three, which it says covers 99% of the UK outdoor population, so check the coverage at your home and workplace before committing. If you travel within the EU, Smarty says unlimited calls and texts and up to 12GB of data are included. A 5G service is offered where coverage exists and a compatible device is used.
