THEGATHER: what to know before you buy

The story

THEGATHER was founded in London in 2025 around a simple idea: the things we live with every day should bring comfort, familiarity and joy. The label wants people to buy fewer things, but buy them better, and designs pieces to be worn often and kept for years.

The range

The main event is knitwear: jumpers, cardigans and crewnecks, plus accessories such as beanies and a tote bag. The label works with premium natural fibres including Scottish lambswool, merino wool, cashmere and organic cotton. New collections arrive seasonally and pieces are made in limited runs, so a favourite can sell out. The label also sells a few gifting pieces, though gift cards can’t be returned.

The making

Each piece is made in small runs to avoid overproduction. THEGATHER works with manufacturing partners it says meet recognised social and environmental standards, and its garments are made both locally and globally.

Knit care

There is a care guide on the site, and the shop sells a knitwear comb and cedar balls. Looking after knitwear well is part of the idea, since the label wants it kept for years. The label says pilling is a natural trait of soft natural fibres, and recommends washing only when needed, by hand in cool water with a wool-safe detergent.

Delivery

Orders are processed quickly and you get tracking details once dispatched. The UK has standard and express options, and the label offers complimentary shipping above a set order value. It also ships worldwide, where customs charges may apply.

Returns

You can request a return within 14 days of receiving an item. It must be unworn, with tags attached and in its original packaging, with proof of purchase. You pay to send it back. Gift cards and personalised pieces can’t be returned.
