Thornbridge Brewery: what to know before you buy

The story

Thornbridge began in 2005, when founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second-hand kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. The brewery has since moved to Riverside in Bakewell, with a taproom, shop and pizza kitchen beside it. It has won a long list of brewing awards, including SIBA Brewery Business of the Year in 2024.

The beer

Jaipur is the flagship, an IPA the brewery describes as often cited as the UK's first craft IPA. Around it you will find pale ales, lagers and seasonal releases, and the shop sells them by the bottle, can or mixed case, or as a pick and mix so you can build your own. There are also mini casks for parties and an advent calendar of beers.

Beer club

If you would rather have beer arrive regularly, the Thornbridge Beer Club sends boxes to your door. Membership boxes are listed in their own section of the shop, and there is an add-to-your-next-order option for topping up.

Beyond beer

The online shop also stocks merchandise, glassware, home bar bits, football shirts and gift cards. The brewery runs tours and the Thornbridge Experience, which includes a look at the Union set, which it says is the only one still working in the world.

Delivery

Orders go out by courier across the UK, with APC, DPD or DX. They are processed within a few business days and are not shipped or delivered at weekends or on bank holidays. Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man have their own rates, and international orders are by request through the brewery's email. Delivery costs and any free-delivery threshold are worked out at checkout.

Returns

Changed your mind? You can return unused items in their original packaging, within the window in their policy, by emailing the brewery first with proof of purchase. Return postage is yours. If something arrives damaged, send a photo and your order details and they will sort it out.
