What Webshare does

Webshare is a California company selling datacenter, static residential and rotating residential proxies, mainly to developers and data teams collecting public web data. Plans start with a free tier, and our links to Webshare are referral links rather than discount codes.

  • Datacenter proxies

Proxy Server plans are datacenter proxies on Webshare’s own network, sold shared, private or dedicated, with countries chosen at checkout and bandwidth from 250 GB a month up to unlimited.

  • Static residential (ISP) proxies

Fixed IP addresses registered to residential internet providers such as AT&T, Comcast and Cox, hosted on servers. They stay the same by default, with an optional auto-refresh, and come shared, private or dedicated.

  • Rotating residential proxies

Traffic goes through real home devices whose owners have agreed to share them, and the IP changes automatically every few hours. Priced per GB, covering 195 countries, with city, US state, ZIP code and ASN targeting through the Endpoint Generator.

  • Direct, rotating and backbone connections

Direct connections use each proxy’s own address and port. The rotating endpoint switches proxy on every request, and the backbone connection keeps one address at p.webshare.io while the IPs behind it change. All three support HTTP and SOCKS5 on the same port.

  • Proxy replacement and locations

Proxies can be replaced with new IPs or moved to another country. How often replacements are allowed is set at checkout, anywhere from months down to minutes.

  • Sub-users and IP authorisation

Sub-user profiles get their own bandwidth and concurrency limits and their own proxy list. Proxies can be authorised by IP address instead of a username and password.

  • API, command-line tool and SDKs

A REST API, a command-line tool for macOS, Linux and Windows, and SDKs for Node.js, Python and Go export proxy lists, check usage and manage IP authorisations without opening the dashboard.

  • MCP server and Chrome extension

An MCP server lets Claude Code, Claude, Cursor and other clients read proxies, usage and billing on any plan, including the free one, with write access only when the account owner grants it. A Chrome extension connects the browser to a Webshare proxy.

Webshare’s terms say the buyer pays any applicable taxes, and the pricing page doesn’t say whether UK VAT is added. Yearly plans bill every 360 days and save 30% against monthly. Plans are built from proxy type, count, exclusivity and bandwidth, and bigger orders cost less per proxy or GB. Bandwidth resets monthly with no rollover; unlimited bandwidth is under a fair usage policy. Prices in US dollars, from Webshare's pricing page on 17 October 2026. Webshare may charge VAT on top, and prices can change.

Webshare pros and cons

Pros

  • Free plan of 10 shared datacenter proxies with no card and no expiry date
  • Datacenter, static residential and rotating residential proxies in one account and dashboard
  • Plans are built to size: proxy count, sharing level, bandwidth and countries are all chosen at checkout
  • HTTP and SOCKS5 on every connection type, with direct, rotating and backbone connections
  • Official API, command-line tool, SDKs for Node.js, Python and Go, a Chrome extension and an MCP server
  • Rotating residential covers 195 countries, with city, US state, ZIP code and ASN targeting

Cons

  • Webshare can ask for ID or proof of use case, and Trustpilot reviewers say their service was paused during checks
  • Refunds only within 48 hours of purchase with under 1 GB used (0.1 GB on rotating residential), and account credit is never refunded
  • Prices in US dollars only, and the pricing page doesn’t say whether UK VAT is added
  • Datacenter and static residential plans target by country only, not by city
  • Some reviewers received proxies in a different country from the one they ordered
  • IPv4 only, and SOCKS5 carries TCP traffic only, with no UDP

Good for

  • Developers and data teams scraping and collecting public web data
  • Price tracking and ecommerce monitoring across countries
  • SEO teams checking search results from different locations
  • Ad verification: seeing how ads appear in different countries
  • Trying proxies on a free plan before paying

Look elsewhere if

  • Anyone who needs to pay in pounds or by PayPal
  • Projects that need UDP traffic or IPv6 addresses, which Webshare doesn’t support
  • Buyers who won’t share ID or explain their use case if Webshare asks
  • Heavy residential jobs on a fixed budget, since rotating residential is billed per GB

Webshare: what to know before you pay

What is Webshare?

Webshare is a proxy provider. It rents out IP addresses that route a computer’s web traffic, so requests reach a website from another address and often another country. The company, Webshare Software, is based in California and sells mainly to developers, researchers and businesses that collect public web data, track prices, check search results in other locations or verify how ads appear.

Which Webshare proxy type suits which job?

It depends on whether the address must stay fixed and what kind of address a site expects. Proxy Server plans are datacenter proxies: fast, lower-cost addresses hosted in data centres, which Webshare suggests for high-volume work on less restrictive sites. Static Residential, also called ISP proxies, uses addresses registered to home broadband providers but hosted on servers, so each one stays fixed for tasks that need one consistent address, such as ad verification. Rotating Residential sends traffic through real home devices whose owners have agreed to share them, and the address changes by itself every few hours. Datacenter and static residential proxies come shared, private or dedicated, where dedicated means no other customer uses the address. Those plans pick locations by country, while rotating residential can also narrow down to a city, a US state or a ZIP code.

How does Webshare pricing work?

Webshare builds each price from a few choices rather than selling fixed tiers. Datacenter and static residential plans are priced by the number of proxies, how exclusive they are and a monthly bandwidth allowance; the unlimited option on larger plans falls under a fair usage policy. Rotating residential is sold by the gigabyte. Yearly billing costs less per month but commits the buyer to a full year, and bigger orders cost less per unit. Bandwidth resets each month and unused data doesn’t carry over. Prices are in US dollars, and Webshare’s terms say buyers pay any taxes that apply. The pricing page shows the figures for each combination.

How do you connect Webshare proxies to your tools?

Through the proxy list in the dashboard, which gives each proxy’s address, port, username and password, or through IP authorisation, which lets a registered IP address connect without a password. All connection types support HTTP and SOCKS5, and Webshare publishes set-up guides for browsers, operating systems, proxy managers and scraping libraries. There is an official Chrome extension, a REST API, a command-line tool and SDKs for Node.js, Python and Go. Webshare also runs an MCP server that lets AI assistants such as Claude Code and Cursor read proxy lists and usage, with changes off unless the account owner allows them.

What should you check before paying?

Three things: what the free plan covers, the verification rules and the refund terms. The free plan gives a small set of shared datacenter proxies with a monthly data allowance and no card, enough to test set-up, but it has no residential proxies. Webshare may ask for ID or for details of how proxies will be used, and some reviewers say their service was paused while that check ran. Its compliance policy lists restricted activities and blocked websites, with extra restrictions on rotating residential. Refunds are at Webshare’s discretion and only considered soon after purchase, on plans that have barely been used. Plans renew automatically. Cancelling moves the account to the free plan straight away and may leave credit for the unused part, while turning off auto-renewal keeps the proxies until the period ends.

Questions about Webshare

Are there any Webshare discount codes?

We don't currently list a confirmed discount code. That doesn't mean the store has no promotions; check its website for current prices.

Is Webshare free?

Partly. Webshare has a free plan of shared datacenter proxies with a monthly bandwidth allowance, no card needed and no end date. It leaves out residential proxies, and the allowance is listed on the pricing page.

What is the difference between Webshare’s datacenter and residential proxies?

Datacenter proxies use addresses hosted in data centres, which Webshare describes as faster and cheaper but easier for websites to identify as proxy traffic. Residential proxies use addresses from home internet providers: static residential keeps one fixed address hosted on a server, while rotating residential runs through real home devices and changes address every few hours.

Does Webshare offer refunds?

Sometimes. Refunds are at Webshare’s discretion and only considered when the request comes soon after purchase and the plan has hardly been used; the limits are in its terms and help centre. Account credit can’t be refunded, and a refunded plan drops back to the free plan.

Can I pay for Webshare in pounds?

No. Prices are in US dollars, so a UK card provider converts the payment and may add a foreign transaction fee. Webshare takes major cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and its help centre says it has no plans to add PayPal or crypto.

How do I cancel a Webshare subscription?

From Account Settings in the dashboard, under Your Subscription. Cancelling moves the account to the free plan straight away and credits the unused time or bandwidth, whichever is less, while turning off auto-renewal keeps the proxies until the billing period ends. Cancelling doesn’t trigger a refund by itself.
