The story
Yards Store opened its doors in Macclesfield in 2016 and moved to Manchester in 2019. It describes itself as a proudly independent menswear and lifestyle retailer, aiming to stock both the best in class and the little bit different, rather than sticking to one category or concept.
The shops
The Manchester shop is on Old Bank Street, just off St Anne's Square, and there is a second shop in Sheffield. Staff are on hand to talk you through the brands and answer questions, and they say they love the products on their rails. The online store carries the same sort of range you can try on in person, so you can look first and buy either way. Pam Pam is its sister store for women's style.
The range
Its approach is to mix established names with smaller labels you might not find on the high street. Expect names such as And Wander, Carhartt WIP, Gramicci, RRL, Karhu, Clarks Originals and New Balance. The clothing covers jackets, overshirts, knitwear, sweats, shirts and trousers. Footwear runs from trainers to boots and casual shoes, and accessories include bags, headwear, water bottles and camping gear.
Delivery
Orders are sent by Royal Mail, with faster and next-day options on offer for the UK, and international delivery to many countries. Costs and any free-delivery qualifying amount are shown on its shipping page and at checkout. Orders usually leave the warehouse quickly, so it is rarely possible to change one after it is placed.
Saving
Payment can be split with Klarna for UK customers. The shop runs a sale section and a newsletter, and any live code is listed on this page for you to copy and enter at checkout.
Returns
Items need to be back with Yards Store within 14 days of receipt, unworn, with labels attached and in original packaging. Exchanges follow the same rule. Free returns are not offered, so return postage is usually yours, except for faulty or incorrect items, which have separate terms.
