House rules.
Readers' replies are what make a verdict worth reading. These rules keep them useful, kind and safe for everyone.
What you can post
Your own view or experience, in your own words, about the question you're replying to. Up to 600 characters, plain text.
Disagree as much as you like, but with the idea, not the person. The person asking is a real reader, or us.
What you can't post
- Anything illegal, or that encourages or helps someone break the law.
- Threats, harassment, hate or abuse, about anyone, for any reason.
- Someone else's personal information: names with details that identify them, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or photos.
- Links, adverts, referral codes, discount codes or selling anything. Codes go through a store's page, where we check them.
- Sexual content of any kind, and anything that sexualises, endangers or identifies a child.
- Anything that encourages or describes self-harm, suicide or an eating disorder. If you're struggling, Samaritans answer on 116 123, free, day or night.
- Advice about someone's debts, benefits, health or legal case. We point those to MoneyHelper and Citizens Advice, which are free.
- Words that aren't yours, or anything written for pay or in return for something.
How we check
A person at Vouchernaut checks reports and posts waiting for a check, and aims to do so within a working day. Your first post, and any post with a web address, an email address, a phone number or a word on our list, waits for a check before others see it.
Three reports from different readers, at least one of them signed in, hide a post until we've looked. We hide or remove posts that break these rules and tell the writer why on their post.
Three posts removed in 30 days, or one that may be illegal, stops an account posting. We report illegal content to the police or the right authority where the law says we must.
Answers about shops
The questions on store pages are ours: we publish each one, sometimes from a question a reader sent us, edited and without their name. Every answer from a reader waits for a person at Vouchernaut to check it before anyone else sees it.
An answer about buying from a shop is a review, so answer only from your own experience of it, and never for payment, a discount, a free product or anything else in return. Nobody at Vouchernaut, and nobody writing for us, answers as a reader.
We never hold back, hide or move down an answer for being critical, including about a shop that pays us commission. Answers are ordered by Helpful marks, then newest, and nothing else.
Reporting, appeals and complaints
Every post has Report. You don't need an account to use it.
If we've hidden or removed your post or stopped your account posting and you think we got it wrong, or you want to complain about how we handle posts or reports, email [email protected]. We'll answer within five working days.
Doug Silkstone, who runs Vouchernaut, is responsible for how we keep these spaces safe.
Your posts
Posts show the name you choose under Account › Sign-in and details, or your first name, never your email address. You can change a post for 10 minutes after writing it and delete it whenever you like, from the post or under Account › Your posts. Deleting your account deletes your posts.
An editor may choose a reply as one of a verdict's readers' picks once it closes, and quote it with your public name on the verdict's page and in the Vouchernaut Weekly email. Deleting the post takes it out of anything we haven't sent yet.
Posting doesn't earn you anything, and we never post as a reader.
