Vouchernaut in brief

Who is Vouchernaut?
A UK shopping site and an affiliate publisher on Awin. We run a voucher site, a shop, comparison tools, guides and more. When a shopper clicks through from us and buys, the brand pays commission through its affiliate network, as it would any partner.
What does it do?
Store pages list brands' codes and deals, with shoppers' reports on whether they worked. A shop with price history and tools for phones, broadband, energy, parking and What's On help people compare before choosing a retailer. Guides, a weekly email, an extension, an AI assistant connector and group cashback reach shoppers wherever they are.
Who runs it?
Doug Silkstone, who started Vouchernaut ten Black Fridays ago and is back running it. His first job in affiliate marketing was on the paid search team at vouchercloud. He also runs WithSeismic, a product engineering studio, and Benson, a tool that shows online stores when coupon extensions take the last click.
What's the goal?
To prove that a voucher site can add sales a brand wouldn't otherwise have had, not just take credit for orders that would have happened anyway. Every click we send is labelled with where it came from, and brands see their sales by channel and by article.
How?
By reaching shoppers before they've chosen where to buy: comparisons that cost a contract in full, guides people read weeks before they spend, price watches and verified discounts. We keep rules that leave other partners' sales alone, and we run tests with brands to measure what we add.

About Vouchernaut, for your article

Vouchernaut (vouchernaut.com) is a UK shopping guide. It lists live discount codes and deals for nearly a thousand stores, with shoppers' reports on whether each one worked, and runs a shop with price history, comparison tools for phones, broadband, energy, airport parking and What's On, long-form buying guides and group cashback for clubs and charities. Founded by Doug Silkstone, Vouchernaut sets out to show that a voucher site can bring brands sales they wouldn't otherwise have had, and labels every click it sends so they can see it.

“I'm on a mission to prove that small voucher publishers can add incremental value to brands, not just take credit for sales that would have happened anyway.”

Meet Vinny the Vouchernaut

Vinny has been with us since the start: the astronaut helmet in our logo is his. On the site he acts out what's going on, from spotting a deal to nodding off when you're offline, always beside the words that say it. Now he has a new look, a clay figure with the same big helmet, plum visor and pink V badge, and he's moved into our art style.

Using Vinny

  • Use Vinny in coverage of Vouchernaut, in articles, videos and posts.
  • Keep him as he is: white suit, plum visor and trim, pink V badge.
  • Put him on our pastels, on white, or on a plain background.

Please don't

  • Redraw, recolour or restyle him, or give him new clothes.
  • Give him words we didn't say, such as speech bubbles.
  • Use him in advertising for anything else.

Logos

The logo is Vinny's helmet beside our name in Sofia Sans Bold Italic. Each comes as an SVG, which stays sharp at any size, and a PNG with a transparent background.

Using the logo

  • Use the black logo on light backgrounds and the white one on dark backgrounds and photographs.
  • Leave clear space around it at least half the logo's height.
  • Use the helmet on its own where Vouchernaut is already named, such as an avatar.
  • In writing, it's Vouchernaut: one word, capital V. The logo itself is lower case.

Please don't

  • Stretch, squash, rotate or recolour it.
  • Add shadows, outlines or other effects.
  • Set the name in another typeface or rebuild the logo.
  • Use it to suggest we endorse a product, brand or cause.

Our art style

Every picture we make follows one recipe: a pastel backdrop, a concrete block or two, and something sitting on top. It's photographic and calm, and it lets one object tell the story.

Blank vouchers and scissors on concrete blocks, on peach
The set
The same set with Vinny sitting on the taller block, holding up a voucher
Then Vinny sits on top
  • A pastel backdrop

A flat wall and floor in one pastel: lavender, sky, teal, mint, sage, butter, peach or pink. One colour a picture.

  • Concrete blocks

Pale grey-beige cast concrete blocks of different heights, with small pits and flecks. They're the stage.

  • Something on top

One or two real objects tied to the story: vouchers, a gift, a coin jar, books, a phone. Brass, kraft paper, linen and a sprig of eucalyptus.

  • Afternoon sun

Hard, warm light from the upper left, with long diagonal shadows and the soft bands of a window frame.

  • Room to breathe

Half the frame stays empty, so a headline can sit beside the picture.

  • Nothing written

No words, numbers, logos, screens or people. Every tag and ticket stays blank, and Vinny is the only character.

  • A vintage press camera and a blank press pass on lavender
  • Two kraft shopping bags on concrete blocks on sky blue
  • A stopwatch, a ribbon and an olive sprig on teal
  • Wooden blocks rising like a bar chart on mint
  • An open notebook and reading glasses on pale green
  • A closed laptop, a phone and an envelope on butter yellow
  • A phone, a light bulb and blank cards on apricot
  • A brass padlock and key on dusty pink

What we've built

Most of Vouchernaut is built to reach shoppers before they've chosen where to buy. Every link we send says which of these it came from.

  • Phone finder

Phones and SIM-only plans priced by the whole contract, announced price rises included.

The brand guide

The cover of Vouchernaut for Brands

Vouchernaut for Brands is the long version: who we are and who runs us, every channel we send shoppers through, how each click is labelled in a brand's traffic report, the rules we keep and how to run a test with us. Every feature, with the real screens.
