This page lists discounts for NHS staff and healthcare workers across the UK. Offers marked “Unlock with Vouchernaut” unlock in one tap once you've confirmed your work email: we send a six-digit code to your nhs.net, nhs.scot, hscni.net or nhs.uk address, and you're verified for 12 months. The other discounts are run by the stores themselves, and each card says who checks. Vouchernaut isn't connected to the NHS.
How does the NHS check work?
The check confirms that you can read email at an NHS or health service address. You type your work email, we send a six-digit code to it, and once you type the code in you're verified as NHS staff or a healthcare worker for 12 months.
If you're signed in, the status stays on your Vouchernaut account; if you verify as a guest, it lasts for that browser session, and you can keep it on an account afterwards. Brands only learn that you're verified, not your email address, unless you choose to share your details for a particular offer. Personal addresses such as Gmail or Outlook can't show where you work, so the check refuses them.
Which NHS email addresses count?
NHS email isn't one domain across the UK, so the check accepts the addresses each nation uses:
- England: nhs.net, the address of NHS.net Connect, which was called NHSmail until its rename. It's the secure email service for health and social care in England. NHS England Digital describes its users as ranging from GPs, nurses and midwives to administrative and support staff.
- Scotland: nhs.scot. NHS Scotland moved its email from nhs.net to its own platform on nhs.scot, starting in June 2020.
- Wales: wales.nhs.uk, which NHS Wales guidance treats as its email network, along with other addresses ending nhs.uk.
- Northern Ireland: the health and social care trusts' addresses on hscni.net, such as belfasttrust.hscni.net and southerntrust.hscni.net.
Community pharmacies in England can have a shared nhs.net mailbox, and each team member needs a personal nhs.net account. The personal one is the address to verify with, because the code goes to whoever reads that inbox.
How do offers you unlock with Vouchernaut differ from the rest?
Two kinds of discount sit on this page, and each card says which it is. Offers marked “Unlock with Vouchernaut” come from brands that accept our check, so once you're verified the code or link appears in one tap.
The rest are discounts the stores run themselves, often through Health Service Discounts, Blue Light Card or their own checks. Health Service Discounts is free and verifies with a work email or a document such as an ID card, payslip or contract. Blue Light Card costs £4.99 for two years and asks for a work ID or recent payslip, and its codes are generated on its site or app rather than by showing the card. Because each card names who checks, you know before you click whether an offer needs one of those memberships.
Who counts as NHS or healthcare staff for store discounts?
That depends on the scheme behind the offer, and the definitions are often wider than NHS employees alone. Blue Light Card's NHS and healthcare category covers NHS workers, dental practice staff, pharmacy workers and optometrists, retired staff included. Health Service Discounts takes NHS staff in any role, GP, dental, hospice and pharmacy staff, healthcare charity staff and volunteers, part-time and bank staff, and healthcare students.
Our own check is about the address rather than the job title: anyone who can receive a code at one of the domains above can verify. A store's terms still decide who its discount is for, so the wording on its card is worth reading before you claim.
Is Vouchernaut part of the NHS?
Vouchernaut isn't part of the NHS and isn't connected to it, to the Department of Health and Social Care or to any of the discount schemes named on this page. We're a UK voucher code and cashback site. The check lets you prove once that you work in health, for the brands that accept it, and each store decides what it offers and on what terms.
