This page lists discounts for teachers and school staff in the UK. Offers marked “Unlock with Vouchernaut” unlock in one tap once you've confirmed your school email: we send a six-digit code to your .sch.uk address, or to an address at an academy trust on our list, and you're verified for 12 months. The other discounts are run by the stores themselves, and each card says who checks.

How does the teacher check work?

The check confirms that you can read email at a school or academy trust address. You type your work email, we send a six-digit code to it, and once you type the code in you're verified as a teacher or member of school staff for 12 months.

If you're signed in, the status stays on your Vouchernaut account; as a guest, it lasts for that browser session, and you can keep it on an account afterwards. Brands only learn that you're verified, not your email address, unless you choose to share your details for a particular offer. A teacher status can also count for key worker offers that accept it, and each card lists the groups it accepts.

Which school email addresses count?

Schools in the UK don't all use the same kind of address, so the check accepts two kinds. The first is .sch.uk: schools in the UK, academies and nursery schools included, are entitled to a .sch.uk domain, in the form schoolname.area.sch.uk.

The second is an academy trust's own domain. Academies and trusts often use their own addresses rather than .sch.uk (United Learning, for example, uses unitedlearning.org.uk), so the check also accepts a list of trust domains. If your school uses an address that's on neither, our email check can't confirm it yet; a document check will follow, and the store-run discounts on this page have checks of their own. Personal addresses such as Gmail or Outlook are refused, since they can't show where you work.

Who counts as school staff for store discounts?

That depends on the scheme behind each offer, and some reach well beyond classroom teachers. Blue Light Card says most teachers working in state education are eligible, along with teaching assistants, early years educators, education support staff and lunch supervisors. MoneySavingExpert adds that it covers early years, primary, secondary and special schools, sixth form colleges, referral units and centrally employed staff, but not higher education.

Discounts for Teachers is free and takes teachers, retired ones included, plus teaching assistants, office staff, cleaners and canteen staff, as well as university staff, students and volunteers. Teacher Perks is free too, and asks for a work email, your school's name and your job role. Our own check is about the address rather than the job title, so support staff with a school address can verify as well as teachers. Each store's terms still decide who its discount is for.

How do offers you unlock with Vouchernaut differ from the rest?

Two kinds of discount sit on this page, and each card says which it is. Offers marked “Unlock with Vouchernaut” come from brands that accept our check, so once you're verified the code or link appears in one tap.

The rest are run by the stores, often through Blue Light Card or their own checks, and you verify with whoever the card names. Blue Light Card costs £4.99 for two years, and MoneySavingExpert says it accepts your school email address, a work ID or a recent payslip as proof. Vouchernaut isn't connected to the Department for Education, any school or academy trust, or any discount scheme.

What happens if you change schools or leave?

A status lasts 12 months from the day you verify, and it's tied to the address you used. If you move schools, verifying again with your new address gives you a fresh 12 months. Teacher offers are for people working in schools, so if you leave, you can remove your status from your account at any time. I'd verify during term, while your school inbox is to hand, because that's where the code goes.
