Ars Electronica Linz 2027: a future-facing weekend
Ars Electronica is back in Linz from 8 to 12 September 2027. It's worth a weekend if you pick one thread and stop trying to see everything.

Ten days of music and street theatre across Ghent, 16–25 July 2027, and a lot of it is free. Pick a few shows and let the city join the dots.
Pick the art first, then the season: Lux Helsinki for a dark, frosty New Year city, or the Biennial for ferries, island art and endless summer evenings.
Primavera runs 3–5 June 2027 at Parc del Fòrum. Protect your sleep, plan the late journey home and do one Barcelona thing a day, not five.
Don't book six films back to back at IFFR. Two or three you can't see at home, plus Rotterdam's architecture and a proper meal, make a better weekend.
Las Fallas is a whole March of monuments, noise and fire. First decide whether you want the finished fallas with room to breathe or the deafening finale.
3daysofdesign's public programme is free and spread across Copenhagen, 9–11 June 2027. Treat it as a neighbourhood walk, and note it runs Wednesday to Friday.
You can't 'do' Milan Design Week. One public Salone day plus one well-chosen Fuorisalone district is the trip I'd actually book.
Venice Carnival runs 23 January to 9 February 2027. The real question is which weekend: the opening buzz, the costume peak or a calmer visit mid-run.
Winter city breaks die at 4.30pm. Amsterdam Light Festival is at its best after dark. It runs 25 November 2027 to 16 January 2028, and I'd walk it rather than take a boat.
Plan 29–31 January around Dark Matter KOLLEKTION and WINTERLIGHTS, a dated CTM performance and transmediale. See the route, videos and ticket choices.
Stop booking the flight first. Pick the event and let the city fill in around it. My 2027 picks run from Berlin's January art weekend to Ghent's mostly free street party.
