What I'd check first
Gaming deals are everywhere, which is exactly why I'm picky about where I buy. For PC games, you've got three kinds of shop: the platforms themselves (Steam, Epic), authorised key resellers that get their stock from publishers (Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Gamesplanet), and open marketplaces where individual sellers list keys (G2A). The first two are the ones I'd use without thinking twice. With a marketplace, the seller and their terms become part of the purchase, so read them.
Authorised resellers are often cheaper than the platform on pre-orders and new releases, and they run their own vouchers on top. Check which platform the key activates on and whether it's region-locked before you pay.
Subscriptions like Game Pass are a different maths problem entirely. They're brilliant if you play a lot of different games, and poor value if you're waiting for one release.
