This page lists discounts for the UK armed forces and veterans. Serving personnel and reservists with an MOD email can verify here: we send a six-digit code to your mod.uk or mod.gov.uk address, you're verified for 12 months, and offers marked “Unlock with Vouchernaut” then unlock in one tap. Veterans can't verify here yet. The other discounts are run by the stores themselves, and each card says who checks.
How does the armed forces check work?
The check confirms that you can read email at a Ministry of Defence address. You type your work email, we send a six-digit code to it, and once you type the code in you're verified as armed forces for 12 months. It accepts mod.gov.uk and addresses ending mod.uk, including service subdomains such as royalnavymail.mod.uk; personal addresses such as Gmail or Outlook are refused.
If you're signed in, the status stays on your Vouchernaut account, whichever email that account uses; as a guest, it lasts for that browser session, and you can keep it on an account afterwards. Brands only learn that you're verified, not your email address, unless you choose to share your details for a particular offer. An armed forces status can also count for key worker offers that accept it, and each card lists the groups it accepts.
How can veterans prove they served?
Veterans verify with a document rather than an email address, and our document check isn't available yet. The document GOV.UK points veterans to for discounts is the HM Armed Forces Veteran Card, which proves you served in the UK armed forces. Service leavers get it in their leavers' pack within six weeks of leaving. Those who left before December 2018 can apply for free, online through GOV.UK One Login or by post, and cards usually arrive within 10 weeks.
Regulars and reservists of the Royal Navy, British Army, RAF and Royal Marines qualify, and some Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Merchant Navy service may. A digital version can be kept on your phone. Until our document check is ready, veterans can use the store-run offers here that check through the Defence Discount Service, which lists HM Armed Forces Veterans among the groups it accepts.
Which schemes do stores use for forces discounts?
Store-run military discounts often check eligibility through the Defence Discount Service or Blue Light Card, and each card on this page names which. The Defence Discount Service accepts serving and reserve personnel, veterans, MOD civil servants, NATO personnel, cadets aged 16 and over, spouses and partners, bereaved family members, and war or service widows and widowers, who upload ID or proof of service. Blue Light Card's armed forces category covers the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, RAF, veterans, MoD civil servants and the MoD Fire Service, and membership costs £4.99 for two years.
Some businesses offer forces discounts as part of the Armed Forces Covenant, whose principle is that people who serve or have served, and their families, should face no disadvantage in public and commercial services. When the Corporate Covenant launched in 2013, discounts were among the ways the government suggested businesses could support the armed forces community.
How do offers you unlock with Vouchernaut differ from the rest?
Two kinds of discount sit on this page, and each card says which it is. Offers marked “Unlock with Vouchernaut” come from brands that accept our check, so once you're verified the code or link appears in one tap.
The rest are run by the stores, through the Defence Discount Service, Blue Light Card or their own checks, and you verify with whoever the card names. Vouchernaut isn't connected to the Ministry of Defence, the armed forces, the Defence Discount Service or Blue Light Card.
Should you verify with your MOD address?
The code has to reach an MOD address, because that's what shows you serve, and once every 12 months is enough. A Royal Navy forum post from November 2025, about signing up to the Defence Discount Service, advised personnel to verify their work status and then use a personal email account, citing JSP 740 and the risk of MOD addresses turning up in third-party data breaches. With our check, the MOD address receives the code, and the status then sits on your Vouchernaut account until you renew it after 12 months.
