How I'd do Black Friday
Black Friday lands on 27 November 2026, but UK shops will start their "Black Friday" sales weeks earlier and keep going through the weekend into Cyber Monday. So I don't treat it as a day. I treat it as a month where the prices finally move, and I show up with a list.
The list is the whole trick. Before the emails start, write down the three or four things you actually want and the price you'd be happy to pay for each. Which? tracked 175 products around the 2024 sales and found most were the same price or cheaper at other points in the year, so the "was" price on a banner tells you very little. The number you wrote down tells you everything.
When a deal turns up, I check the exact model or edition, the delivery date for my postcode, and the returns window. Christmas returns often run longer in November, but not everywhere, and not on opened software or game keys.

Are Black Friday deals actually cheaper?
Not always. Which? found most of the products it tracked around the 2024 sales were the same price or cheaper at other times of year. Compare the price you'd pay now with what the item has sold for recently, not with the "was" price.
Can I return things I buy on Black Friday?
Online purchases usually come with a 14-day cancellation right in the UK, and many shops extend returns over Christmas. Digital items such as game keys are often excluded once you've redeemed them, so check before you buy.
When do Black Friday deals start?
Most UK retailers start their sales in early or mid November, and some run "Black Week" or early-access deals before that. The best prices don't always land on the Friday itself.
