Shopping with Damart

What Damart is good at

Damart started in France in 1953 around a warm, thin synthetic fabric called Thermolactyl, and thermals are still what it is known for. The UK arm runs from Bingley in West Yorkshire and sells much more than long johns now: knitwear, coats, trousers, jeans, footwear, lingerie, nightwear and a home section (mattresses are in there). This is comfort-first clothing rather than trend-chasing, and I think that is the honest pitch. If your priority is something soft, warm and easy to wear for the cold months, it is a sensible shop. If you want this season's catwalk, it is not that shop.

Delivery: simple, with one gap

Standard UK delivery is £3.99 and takes 2 to 5 working days. Express is £6.99 for 1 to 2 working days, Monday to Friday only. Some items are dispatched directly by the manufacturer and can take up to a week, and big things like mattresses come by a separate courier. I could not find a minimum-spend free delivery threshold on the delivery page. Free delivery appears as a perk for new email subscribers' first order, so on a normal basket assume you are paying the £3.99.

Returns cost money, so choose sizes carefully

This is the catch. You are asked to send unwanted items back within 14 days of delivery, and the fee comes out of your refund if you paid by card or PayPal: £2.99 via a Post Office or Evri ParcelShop drop-off, or £3.99 for an Evri courier collection from home. Large items such as mattresses carry a £35 collection charge. On a £25 top, a £2.99 return fee is a real chunk, so use the size guide and the True Fit tool on product pages before you commit.

The Personal Account deserves a hard look

Damart offers a "try before you buy" Personal Account that lets you spread payments. It is a credit product, not a free trial: at the time of writing (October 2026) the representative APR is 39.9% variable, interest can run from dispatch on delayed-payment offers, and a missed payment brings a £12 admin charge. The "Pay in 3" option is interest-free if you pay every instalment on time. Cards accepted are UK-registered Visa and Mastercard. If you just want to buy a jumper, a normal card is the cheaper route.

Saving money here

There is a standing sale section covering women's, men's and home, and multibuy discounts are applied automatically when qualifying items hit your basket. Codes need to be entered at checkout. Subscribing to the emails is the route to the first-order perk, and the free catalogue is worth requesting if you like browsing on paper. Phone support (0871 423 0000) is open 8am to 8pm every day, but calls cost 13p a minute plus your provider's access charge, so live chat or the contact form is kinder to your phone bill.
