Shopping with Hoseasons
What Hoseasons is actually for
Hoseasons lists holiday parks, lodges, cottages and boat holidays across Britain, and the search is built around the things people argue about when planning a UK break: hot tub or not, dogs or not, how many people, and which week. It also has properties you will not find elsewhere under its own collections, such as the James Collection and the Magnificent Collection.
My honest view: it is strongest when you are flexible. The advertised savings tend to be tied to last-minute dates or particular arrival windows, so the sensible route is to search a spread of dates, not one fixed week.
The deposit, and when the rest is due
Hoseasons says the standard deposit is usually 20 to 35 percent of the booking cost. Some bookings qualify for a low-deposit option that can be as little as £25, but only where the property takes part and your booking meets the conditions. If you cancel before the balance is due, you pay the difference between the low deposit and the standard one, and normal cancellation charges still apply.
The balance date is where the site's own pages disagree a little: one help answer says most bookings are due 10 weeks before arrival, sometimes 6 or 8, while another says 6 weeks for most and 8 for places sleeping 10 or more. So do not trust a rule of thumb. Your exact date is on the booking summary before you confirm and in My Account afterwards.
Changing or cancelling
You can change dates online up to 10 weeks before departure. There is a £35 amendment fee plus any price difference, and if staff make the change for you the fee is £35 plus a £20 admin fee. To cancel, log in to My Account and click Cancel to see the exact charge before you commit. Cancellation charges may apply, so check the quote.
Dogs and protection
Only dogs are accepted. Look for the paw symbol on the property: a 0 means no pets. "Pets go free" means no charge, while "Pets allowed" can carry a fee per dog, and adding your dogs to the search puts the fee into the total. Hoseasons is an ABTA member, but its financial protection applies to package holidays, not accommodation-only or boat-only bookings.
