Shopping with David Musson Fencing
Choosing fencing timber
The site lists boards in several sizes, including 125mm x 22mm feather edge boards in both standard and brown finishes, plus sawn treated boards in 75mm, 100mm and 150mm widths. Work out the height and run of your fence before you order, as the board width determines how many you need per panel. Round picket pales and rail sizes sit alongside these, so it is worth buying the rails and pickets from the same range to keep the finish consistent.
Posts, sleepers and fixings
For structural jobs the yard stocks 100mm x 100mm timber fence posts, marked UC4, and a range of sleepers in different sizes. Concrete-set posts usually need a bag of post mix, and the site sells coarse insta post mix in 20kg bags, which suits setting posts quickly in firm ground. Tree stakes in machined round form are available for garden planting.
Getting your order home
Delivery is priced by distance from the Leicestershire yard, in zones rising by 10 miles up to 80 miles. Heavy or bulky orders go on the yard's own lorries and vans, while lighter parcels above the courier threshold are sent by courier. Anything beyond the standard zones needs a tailored quote at checkout. Collection is also an option: you can pick your order up from the yard, and staff will load it with a loader, though the site notes they cannot pre-pack orders.
Before you buy
Check the quantity and size of your material against your plan, because a tractor-towed trailer or van will not carry the same load as a lorry. If you are unsure which product suits your job, the customer service team can be called on the number listed on the site before you place the order.
