Shopping with JOY

Choosing between JOY's skirts and dresses

The skirt edit is where JOY's personality shows most clearly. The Pasadena midi is pleated and designed to move well, and the brand's own journal sets out how the styles differ. The Flutter jacquard version is described as slightly heavier, holding its shape to create volume while keeping the waist defined. The Flower Dot chambray is positioned as the lighter, everyday option. If you want something for occasions, the Blossom jacquard in black with a soft blue floral is the more dressed-up choice. Think about how much structure you want before you buy.

Fabrics and the recycled cotton question

Several pieces are linked to the brand's recycled cotton approach. JOY's founder explains that recycled cotton is made from pre-consumer factory offcuts and post-consumer textiles, and that the aim is less reliance on virgin resources. If fibre origin matters to you, read the product description for each item rather than assuming all styles are made the same way, as the journal stresses that the approach applies to specific collections.

Homeware, jewellery and gifts

Beyond clothing, JOY offers vases, candles, cushions and frames aimed at refreshing a room, along with jewellery, accessories and cards. These are useful if you are buying for someone who already shops the womenswear, as the colours and textures often carry through. The gift section works best when you know the recipient's taste in the clothing range.
