About the show

From Theatre Tickets Direct's listing

Tru by Jay Presson Allen stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Truman Capote, author of such noted novels as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood.

Set in his New York apartment in December 1975, following the publication of an excerpt from his tell-all novel Answered Prayers – which alienated him from his high-society friends – the play depicts him alone, reflecting on his life, career and the fallout from the book, while dealing with his loneliness, addiction and his complex relationships.

A sell-out success in New York, Jesse Tyler Ferguson is now bringing his remarkable incarnation of Truman Capote to London audiences.

Starring Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), and directed by Award-winner Rob Ashford, Tru comes to the Menier for a strictly limited season.

Presented in association with Seaview, OHenry Productions, and Mickey Liddell & Pete Shilaimon

TRU opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory on 26 September, with previews from 19 September, and runs until 14 November 2026.

How I list these

Everything here comes from the feeds of the ticket and experience sellers I work with: Theatre Tickets Direct and Viator. That's a lot, but it isn't everything on in London: venues that sell their own tickets, or sell through sellers whose feeds don't reach me, won't show here yet.

Events are in date order, and a show on several dates appears once, on its first, with how many more there are. Things to do any day start with the seller's own UK picks, then those rated 4.5 or more, guided before self-guided, shared before private, then by rating and price. Every ticket link is an ad: if you buy, the seller may pay me commission, at no cost to you. Commission never changes what's listed or the order.

A price is the seller's lowest for one ticket (or one person, when two book a tour together), as its feed gives it, and I've checked on each seller's own pages what it covers. Where I haven't checked what a seller's price covers, or its feed is more than a day and a half old, I show no price at all.

I don't list resold tickets for football in England and Wales, or for any match in a UEFA or FIFA competition: selling or advertising them without the organiser's permission is a crime (section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994). Times are UK times. Events change and sell out, so the seller's page is the final word.
