About the event

From See Tickets's listing

Idris Ackamoor is an alto and tenor saxophonist, composer, pianist, percussionist, actor, and tap dancer. He is the Founder/Artistic Director of the jazz and world music ensemble IDRIS ACKAMOOR and THE PYRAMIDS, which he founded in 1972. IDRIS has performed and collaborated with tenor Saxophonists Chico Freeman and John Tchicai, the late alto saxophonist Charles Tyler, drummer Famoudou Don Moye of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, The Cecil Taylor Creative Orchestra, choreographer Bill T. Jones, and writer Ntozake Shange, and many others. Idris was a protegìé of Chicago legendary master clarinetist Clifford King who had played with Jelly Roll Morton and Freddie Keppard in the 1920s. Idris is one of the first of his generation of jazz artists to receive a significant lump sum to sell his entire 50 -year catalogue of Master recordings to !K7 Music of London, Berlin and New York joining the illustrious company of legendary South African singer, Miriam Makeba, and renowned pianist, Patrice Rushen whose catalogues are also managed by !K7. Blue Notes Review"The mystical Africanism of Sun Ra, the rhythmic vertigo by James Brown, the hypnotic density of Fela Kuti and the libertarian spirit of Cecil Taylor."ROLLING STONE"Ackamoor embarks on a great afro-jazz trip, flamboyant and timeless, where the ghosts of John Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders often appear. Brilliant."

How I list these

Everything here comes from the feeds of the ticket and experience sellers I work with: See Tickets. That's a lot, but it isn't everything on in Manchester: venues that sell their own tickets, or sell through sellers whose feeds don't reach me, won't show here yet.

Events are in date order, and a show on several dates appears once, on its first, with how many more there are. Things to do any day start with the seller's own UK picks, then those rated 4.5 or more, guided before self-guided, shared before private, then by rating and price. Every ticket link is an ad: if you buy, the seller may pay me commission, at no cost to you. Commission never changes what's listed or the order.

A price is the seller's lowest for one ticket (or one person, when two book a tour together), as its feed gives it, and I've checked on each seller's own pages what it covers. See Tickets's includes its booking fee, and it adds an order fee to each booking (£1.25 to £4 on the events I checked), which I show beside the price. Where I haven't checked what a seller's price covers, or its feed is more than a day and a half old, I show no price at all.

I don't list resold tickets for football in England and Wales, or for any match in a UEFA or FIFA competition: selling or advertising them without the organiser's permission is a crime (section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994). Times are UK times. Events change and sell out, so the seller's page is the final word.
