About the event

Chalk Talk: a spoken word open mic night with live music accompaniment The idea is simple: Margate's best spoken work poets perform with Olby Soul Cafe's house band. The poets will bring planned pieces, and the band will improvise. Grab a drink, sit back and enjoy! This CHALK TALK will be headlined by the amazing Harry Baker: World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker is a poet, a maths graduate, and a new father. His previous collectionWonderful was accompanied by a 40-date sellout UK tour two years in a row, including headliningthe Poet's Revival at the Royal Albert Hall. His new collection Tender is published with Canongatein March 2026 alongside another national tour, and he can't flipping wait. How I list these
Everything here comes from the feeds of the ticket and experience sellers I work with: See Tickets. That's a lot, but it isn't everything on in Margate: venues that sell their own tickets, or sell through sellers whose feeds don't reach me, won't show here yet.
Events are in date order, and a show on several dates appears once, on its first, with how many more there are. Things to do any day start with the seller's own UK picks, then those rated 4.5 or more, guided before self-guided, shared before private, then by rating and price. Every ticket link is an ad: if you buy, the seller may pay me commission, at no cost to you. Commission never changes what's listed or the order.
A price is the seller's lowest for one ticket (or one person, when two book a tour together), as its feed gives it, and I've checked on each seller's own pages what it covers. See Tickets's includes its booking fee, and it adds an order fee to each booking (£1.25 to £4 on the events I checked), which I show beside the price. Where I haven't checked what a seller's price covers, or its feed is more than a day and a half old, I show no price at all.
I don't list resold tickets for football in England and Wales, or for any match in a UEFA or FIFA competition: selling or advertising them without the organiser's permission is a crime (section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994). Times are UK times. Events change and sell out, so the seller's page is the final word.
