What Postiz does

Postiz is a social media scheduler that publishes to more than 30 networks from one calendar and lets AI agents such as Claude and ChatGPT draft and schedule posts through its MCP server, CLI and API. It suits creators, agencies and developers who automate posting. The hosted service starts at $29 a month for five channels, or $23 a month billed yearly, after a 7-day free trial. The open-source edition is free to self-host.

  • Calendar for 30+ networks

Plan, preview and publish posts to X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Threads, Bluesky, Discord, Slack and more from one calendar, with day, week and month views and per-channel settings.

  • AI agents, MCP and CLI

Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Gemini and other agents connect through the hosted MCP server, the Postiz CLI or an installable skill. Posts they create land in the calendar for a person to approve.

  • Design and AI media

A built-in, Canva-like editor with Unsplash photos, plus AI image and video generation and AI clipping that turns long YouTube videos into short captioned vertical clips.

  • Auto actions (plugs)

Internal plugs repost or comment from your other accounts, and global plugs act when a post hits a threshold, such as reposting at 100 likes.

  • Scheduling extras

Schedule follow-up comments and threads, repeat evergreen posts, add delays, save channel sets with custom messages, append signatures and auto-post from RSS feeds.

  • Analytics

Impressions, likes, comments, shares and engagement for each connected channel over a chosen period.

  • Teams and clients

Invite team members to collaborate, comment and schedule, and group channels into customer folders for agencies managing several brands.

  • API and self-hosting

A public REST API, webhooks, a Node.js SDK and n8n and Make integrations. The whole platform is open source under AGPL-3.0 and can run on your own server with Docker.

Postiz pros and cons

Pros

  • 10 channels with unlimited team members cost $39 a month on the Team plan
  • Every plan includes unlimited posts, the API, webhooks and the MCP server
  • Supports 30+ networks, including Reddit, Discord, Telegram and WordPress
  • Open-source edition is free to self-host with no features held back
  • Refunds a paid month in full if you didn't use it

Cons

  • No free hosted plan, only a 7-day trial
  • The $29 Standard plan doesn't allow any team members
  • Self-hosting needs your own developer apps on each network, which can take weeks to approve
  • Priced in US dollars with no mention of VAT
  • Trustpilot reviewers report LinkedIn connection failures and slow, mostly AI-handled support
  • Operated from Hong Kong, which some UK businesses may need to check against their data rules

Good for

  • Developers and automation builders who want AI agents to schedule posts
  • Agencies managing many accounts, where bundled channels beat per-channel pricing
  • Teams that post to communities such as Reddit, Discord and Telegram
  • Technical users who want a free, self-hosted scheduler

Look elsewhere if

  • Anyone wanting a free hosted plan for a few accounts
  • People who schedule mainly from a phone, since there is no listed mobile app
  • Buyers who want a long track record and a large review base

Postiz: what to know before you pay

How much does Postiz cost in the UK?

Postiz Cloud costs $29 a month for 5 channels, $39 for 10, $49 for 30 and $99 for 100, billed in US dollars. Paying yearly cuts those to $23, $31, $39 and $79 a month, a saving Postiz puts at about 20%.

Every plan has unlimited posts, the API, webhooks, the MCP server, analytics and the AI copilot. What changes is the channel count, team access and the AI allowance: Standard has no team members, while Team and above allow unlimited team members and add AI images, more AI videos and more minutes of AI video clipping. There is no free hosted plan, only a 7-day trial. The pricing page doesn't mention VAT, and subscriptions are sold by Gitroom Limited, a Hong Kong company, which also handles refunds and tax invoices according to the terms.

Is Postiz free if you host it yourself?

Yes. The open-source edition on GitHub is free under the AGPL-3.0 licence, and Postiz says it doesn't hold features back from it.

The catch is the work involved. Self-hosting means running Postiz with Docker or on a VPS and setting up Postgres, Redis, storage and environment variables yourself. You also have to create your own developer apps on each social network and pass their approval, which the Postiz README warns can take weeks for Meta, YouTube and TikTok. Postiz Cloud skips all of that with pre-approved apps. For a developer comfortable with servers, the free edition can replace a paid scheduler; for most small businesses the hosted plan is the realistic option.

Postiz vs Buffer: which is better?

Postiz usually costs less once you manage many accounts, while Buffer is the safer pick for someone who wants a free plan, mobile apps and a long track record.

The pricing models differ. Buffer charges per channel, so 10 channels on Buffer's Team plan cost $120 a month billed monthly, against $39 for 10 channels with unlimited team members on Postiz's Team plan. For one to three accounts, Buffer's free plan beats Postiz, which has no free hosted tier. Postiz also covers networks Buffer doesn't, including Reddit, Discord, Telegram, Slack, Dribbble and WordPress. Buffer has far more reviews behind it (126 on Trustpilot against 11 for Postiz) and apps for iPhone and Android. Zernio is the other option to weigh, aimed at developers posting through an API.

Can AI agents post to social media with Postiz?

Yes, and it is the main thing Postiz builds around. Every plan includes a hosted MCP server, a command-line tool and a public API, so agents such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and Gemini can create and schedule posts.

Postiz says posts an agent creates land in your calendar first, so a person can review, edit or reschedule them before anything goes live. The Smart Agent inside the app does the same through a chat window. There are also n8n and Make integrations for people who automate without code. A Trustpilot reviewer on the top plan reported their agent couldn't post, so automations are worth testing during the trial.

Is Postiz safe to use for client accounts?

Postiz connects to social networks through official developer apps held by Gitroom LLC, its US company, so you authorise each account rather than sharing passwords.

Its privacy policy says Postiz operates from Hong Kong and the United States and uses sub-processors in the US, the EU, the UK and elsewhere, with UK GDPR legal bases set out for each use of data. Agencies with strict data rules can self-host the open-source edition instead, which keeps content on their own servers.
