Prickle: what to know before you buy
The story
Prickle describes itself as a team of plant people who know how tricky house plants can be. Its plants are grown in its own greenhouses and hand-picked, and the shop's idea is to bring the outdoors in, from a small corner jungle to a room full of greenery.
The range
Plants make up most of the shop. The Large & Leafy collection holds the statement pieces for a floor or corner, while Lil' Pricks are small plants that fit a shelf or windowsill. There are also rare and unusual plants, a selection of favourites for beginners, and a wide range of plant pots, along with tools and accessories. That makes it a one-stop shop if you are starting a collection and want the pot, the plant and the care kit in one order.
Choosing
The homepage sorts plants by room, with picks for bedrooms, living rooms and bathrooms, which helps if you're unsure what suits your light. There's also a pet-friendly collection. Prickle says it chose those so they don't hurt little ones, but check each listing if animals or children share your home.
Delivery
Prickle delivers to the UK mainland, and has separate terms for addresses the couriers class as outside it, such as BFPO addresses. Charges and any free delivery level are on its delivery page. Because plants are living things and can be knocked about in transit, check the page's advice on inspecting your order when it arrives.
Returns
Prickle offers a money-back guarantee on items that come back unopened and as new, less return postage, and you need to tell it within its set window. If something arrives damaged, tell the shop quickly, with photos if you can, and it will send a replacement or refund. Returns are at your own risk, so keep proof of postage.
