Waterford

Choosing between everyday crystal and collectibles

Waterford's range splits fairly clearly between pieces meant for daily use and decorative or collectible items. The brand says its crystal is designed to last and is made to be enjoyed and used every day, so drinkware and tableware are the sensible starting point for regular entertaining. Its Mastercraft pieces, including the Aran vases and bowls, sit in the decorative end of the range, and the holiday ornaments are presented as keepsakes to be treasured across seasons. If you want something to use, look at the stemware and tableware; if you want a display piece, the vases and bowls are the place to look.

Breakage cover and what it applies to

The brand offers account members a one-year Breakage Warranty, but only for applicable purchases made on its own website. Membership is therefore worth considering if you plan to buy lots of fragile pieces, and it is worth checking the terms against the item in your basket before you buy.

Returns and refunds to keep in mind

The returns policy gives a 30-day window from purchase, with the product sent back at your expense in its original packaging. Refunds cover the product price, while original shipping costs are not refunded. Free gifts are only refunded at the value charged for the item on the order, and engraved or personalised products and gift wrap charges are non-refundable, so check those before ordering.

Delivery and buying from the right channel

Shipping is offered as DPD Next Day Delivery, with a stated rate and a free delivery threshold for orders above a set value, and delivery times are estimates rather than guarantees. Waterford notes that Jersey and the Channel Islands are not covered, and that its returns policy applies only to purchases made on its own website, not from company stores or dealers.
