Our note
On 14 October, Tesco said it had added more than 500 Clubcard Points Partners, up from 13. Those points are available through the free standard Clubcard. Clubcard Plus has to earn its fee through its extra benefits.
Tesco's Clubcard Plus page lists a one-month free trial, then £7.99 a month with cancellation at any time. It offers 10% off two in-store grocery shops each month, 10% off F&F and some other Tesco brands in-store, and double data on Tesco Mobile pay monthly contracts. Tesco says savings can be “up to £40 every month”. For the grocery discount alone to cover the fee, the two eligible shops must total £79.90 in a month.
The terms matter: the discount is scanned through the app in Tesco stores, not online, through Click+Collect or Whoosh. Fuel, tobacco, gift cards and seasonal non-food are excluded. The two codes refresh monthly. I would check how much of my usual in-store shop qualifies before counting the discount as a saving.
