Bad Shirt Club: what to know before you buy

The story

Bad Shirt Club was founded in memory of Aine, a friend of its founder, John, who lost her life to suicide. He turned his grief into a brand built to get people talking about mental health, and the shirts are loud on purpose because, as the brand puts it, attention is the first step to conversation. It launched under another name and became Bad Shirt Club so that advertising platforms would carry it.

The cause

The brand says a large portion of its profits goes to mental health charities, including Suffolk Mind and Mind. Alongside that it runs a Share While You Wear campaign that encourages customers to post and keep the conversation going.

The range

Shirts are the heart of it, in bold prints from flamingos to mushrooms to psychedelic splatter. There are also polo shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, linen blazers, ties, bucket hats and sunglasses, plus a monthly or bi-monthly shirt subscription and gift cards. The brand says everything is unisex, and each product page carries a size guide. The shirts are a polyester and spandex blend with heat-sublimation prints that the brand says won't fade or shrink.

Delivery

Bad Shirt Club delivers within the UK only. Orders go by DHL next-day tracked delivery, and orders placed before the afternoon cut-off on a weekday are dispatched the same day. Northern Ireland and the Highlands cost more and take a little longer, and the delivery charge and free-delivery threshold are shown at checkout. Parcels are covered by DHL insurance and packed in recycled packaging.

Saving

Any live code is listed on this page: copy it and enter it at checkout. The site also runs a sale section and a subscription, so it is worth a look before you pay full price.

Returns

You can cancel within the legal period after receiving your order and then send the items back. They need to be unworn, in their original packaging and in resaleable condition, and you email the brand first. Return postage is your cost.
