Gardenista: what to know before you buy
Choosing the right cushion type
Start with the furniture you already own. Sun lounger cushions are cut for the length and folding style of a lounger, while rattan furniture seat pad sets are designed to sit on a matching set of chairs and sofas. Chair seat pads with ties suit dining chairs with a bare seat, and high-back chair pads are a better fit where you want back support. Measure the seat before you order, because the store notes that colour matching between products can vary slightly due to fabric differences.
Materials and care
The store describes its fabrics as water-resistant and its fillings as block foam, recycled foam crumb or fibre, which it says are fire retardant and hypoallergenic. Water resistance is not the same as waterproof, so a cover is the better choice for furniture left out through a wet British winter. For cleaning, the store recommends a warm damp cloth with bleach-free products and advises against hot washes and tumble driers, which matters for anything with a removable cover.
Timing your order
The store says it monitors stock through the garden season from March to August, and warns it may not guarantee restocking of items after late July. If you are buying for a particular summer, order early and use the 'Contact me when available' option on the product page for sold-out lines. Dispatch is described as one to three working days, with delivery usually within 24 to 48 hours, though courier delays can occur at busy times. Express and next day shipping are not currently available.
Returns and delivery notes
The refund policy only accepts returns despatched within 14 days of delivery, and you must have contacted the store by email or phone first. Returned items should be unused and in original packaging. You pay for the return postage label, and the original delivery charge is not refunded unless the item is faulty. Contact customer care before posting anything back.

Artificial Grass Direct
Artificial Grass Direct sells artificial grass in a range of pile heights and styles, from soft garden lawns to tougher sports surfaces. It also supplies fitting accessories such as weed membrane, adhesive, joining tape and fixing pins. This profile looks at how the main products differ and what to weigh up before buying.
Buy Sheds Direct
Buy Sheds Direct is a UK supplier focused on garden buildings, covering sheds, log cabins, garden storage and summer houses. It suits anyone looking to add a practical or relaxing structure to a garden, patio or outdoor area without having to source each piece separately.
Gardenesque
Gardenesque sells garden furniture, plant pots and outdoor features, with a strong focus on terracotta and glazed pots and weather-resistant seating. The range leans towards pieces meant to stay outside for years, and its UK courier arrangements matter for large items.
Gardening Direct
Gardening Direct is a mail-order supplier of garden plants, bulbs and seasonal stock, run from its own nursery in Lincolnshire. It is aimed at shoppers who want live plants delivered to their door rather than collected from a local centre, with plenty of guidance for less experienced gardeners.
Greenera
Greenera sells garden supplies for growing, looking after and enjoying outdoor space, from hose reels and raised beds to garden edging and outdoor furniture. The range is split into Grow, Care and Enjoy, which makes it easier to find what you need for a particular job in the garden.
Hayloft Plants
Hayloft Plants sells garden plants alongside gardening accessories, and shoppers buy from it online. If you are filling borders, pots or a patio, it is a sensible place to compare what is available before you commit to an order.
Mint Outdoor
Mint Outdoor sells rattan and aluminium garden sofas, corner sets and dining sets, with many ranges made to order rather than stocked in a warehouse. The practical questions for UK buyers are delivery timing, which postcodes are excluded, assembly costs and how returns work for large, heavy pieces.
Selections
Selections is a UK garden and outdoor living retailer, with a range that runs from raised beds and planters to garden furniture covers and bird feeders. Its homepage also points to homeware and household storage. The useful way in is to start from the job: a plot to fill, a wildlife space to support, or a bulky outdoor item to protect.
