AATU Dog and Cat Food: what to know before you buy
The story
AATU is a trading name of Inspired Pet Nutrition Ltd, based at Dalton Airfield near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. It was built on a belief that dogs and cats do best on a high-protein diet rich in meat and fish. Its in-house pet nutritionists developed the recipes, and it says it reimagined raw feeding for people who want the convenience of kibble.
The recipes
The dry food combines at least 80% meat or fish with a Superfood Blend of fruits, vegetables, herbs and botanicals. It is grain free and cooked slowly in small batches, which the company calls its Low and Slow method. The wet food is higher in meat still, and recipes use a single named protein, from free-run chicken and duck to Angus beef, salmon and wild boar.
The range
There is dry and wet food for dogs, a puppy dry food and food for cats. Dry food comes in several bag sizes, and wet food in multipacks and a variety pack. The shop's labels such as 80/20 and 90/10 show how much of each recipe is meat or fish, so you can compare flavours.
Delivery
Orders go by DPD in tracked parcels across mainland Great Britain and the Scottish islands. Next-day delivery is offered in most areas when you order before the cut-off time, but the company says it is a best effort, not a guarantee. Some postcodes miss weekend delivery, and bank holidays are not delivered. DPD also gives a one-hour time slot on the day.
Saving
Subscribing is its main saving: you set a schedule, then skip, pause, change or cancel whenever you like. It says no code is needed for the subscription price. Delivery charges depend on the order and are shown at checkout. Any live code is listed on this page, and you enter it at its checkout.
Returns
Faulty or misdescribed food can be refunded, and your legal rights apply. You also have 14 days from delivery to change your mind, though this does not cover some perishable goods or opened seals. Contact its customer care team first.
